Descendents of Rachel ADLER and Arie Lieb BRENNER in Israel #general

Deborah Burr <debbieb@...>

With the help of a Jenner in Israel I have found that Miriam
Rachel and Arie Lieb BRENNER had the following children: Moshe
Brenner, Esther Havut, Pesia Rennert, and Tzili Weintraub.
Rachel was the daughter of Zeidel and Esther Hilenbrand ADLER of
Romania. She died in 1967 and is buried in Holon, Israel. I am
seeking to find any descendents of this family. Rachel Adler
Brenner was the sister of my Great Grandfather David Adler, who
left Romania and emigrated to the US in 1899. I would appreciate
any suggestions or help. Thank you in advance.

Zaretsky family name interpretation #general

Cindy Taylor

Genners, for all the brick walls I've endured, I count my blessings
that I've made significant headway with my Zaretsky/Saretsky family
(New York City/Brooklyn). A fellow genealogist sent me a marriage
abstract >from Family Search wherein my gggf Simon Zaretsky (in the
abstract it's ZAREZKY) listed his father as Jaksl ZAREZKY and mother
as Chasy MILEKOWSKY. Quite curious as to how these two given names
would translate into English. I'm assuming that there might have been
transcription errors due to foreign accent (s).
As always, thank you in advance.

The Israel State Archives will be shutting down for "about two
months" as it moves >from its current home conveniently located near
Talpiyot to an industrial-commercial area in the north of the city.

This researcher is very disappointed by the new location.

Searching GOODBLATT/GUTBLAT in Israel #general

David Ellis

I am seeking information about descendants of my gg-gf's brother Moshe
Yitzhak GUTBLAT who may be living in Israel today. The surname has changed
in their branch, and I don't know what it is now.

Many years ago my mother's cousin Chanita GOODBLATT, who had made aliyah,
reached out to some distant cousins, but they did not talk and never
exchanged information. I would like to try again. My preferred mode of
contact is e-mail, using the address in my signature.

Thanks in advance!

Jewish ancestors in Bacs-Bodrog county Hungary #general

Don Krueger <kruegerand@...>

I am trying to locate people with surname LIEBMAN(N) in Bacs-Bodrog
or surrounding counties of Hungary that may be ancestors of mine.
My grandmother, Eva LIEBMANN (born about 1892) and her father (born
about 1867) immigrated >from the town of Sajkasszentivan, Hungary
(today, Sajkas, Serbia) to Ellis Island, New York. They left the
port of Fiume, Hungary (today, Rijeka, Croatia) on SS Ivernia on 3
June 1914 and arrived in New York on 22 June 1914.

Based on my research, Eva and David LIEBMANN planned to stay with
David's brother, Georg(e) LIEBMANN, when they arrived in St. Louis
in 1914. Indeed, the 1917 St. Louis Missouri City Directory does
show a David and George LIEBMANN as living (working?) at 940
Morrison Avenue.

Any assistance in locating my LIEBMANN ancestors would be much
appreciated. It is possible they were not of Jewish ancestry, but
given their surname, this seems unlikely.

Shalom and thank you,
