Hyam Issacs: England 1800s ->Looking for his Children - Grandfather to Barney Barnato #general

Bill Rubin <brubin@...>

Hyam ISSACS was born about 1780, probably in England. Hyam Issacs is the
grandfather of Barney BARNATO (nee Barnett ISSACS).

Issac Issacs (b. about 1813, London) is Hyam's son.

One of Hyam Issacs's the daughters may have married into the MYERS family.

I am most interested in information about the daughters of Hyam Issacs.

Issac Issacs's children (and Hyam Issacs' grandchildren) include:

Barney Barnato (nee Barnett Issacs, b. February 21, 1851),

Catherine Joel,

Woolf,

Henry,

Sarah RANTZEN

If you have any information on Issac Issacs siblings, please let me know.

Alte Miriam SHAPIRA #general

Dovie Gelerinter

Hello all,

My great-great grandmother was Alte Miriam Kahana-Shapira (married
name: Gelerinter). She was the daughter of R' Yakov Eliyahu, AKA The
Jeliner.

Earlier today, a friend called me since he has recently started on
research of his and his wife's family and came across the name Alte
Miriam Shapira. When he happened to search on a different site, he saw
that the only person who referenced her was me. So, instead of signing
up, he just called me. :)

Here's the rub. His connection is that his wife's GGGF was her
brother. My sources (Meorei Galicia by R' Meir Wunder) seem to imply
that all her siblings died young. Does anyone have any other
suggestions as to where to see if I can find siblings of Alte Miriam
or otherwise solidly connect the two?

Thank you,

-Dovie Gelerinter

Lost GOTTLIEB and REICH female relatives #general

Barbara L. Kornblau

Hello Fellow JewishGenners,

I recently went back to my great grandmother's family (Malka Kornblau
nee KRAUT >from Ranizow) and found that her siblings (Feige KRAUT and
Perl Leah KRAUT) married Jochen GOTTLEIB and Naftali (Nathan) Reich's
from the Sokolow Malapolski, Zeilonka, and Rzeszow area. (towns like
Zeilonka, Ranizow, Kamien, etc). I found the ship records for my great
great Aunt Frieda Kornblau who came to the US to marry Jacob GOLDBLATT

I was surprised to find that Aunt Frieda came over in 1898 on the Edam
from Amsterdam with her cousins Sura Gottlieb (age 15 >from Zeilonka)
and Pessel Reich (age 19 >from Sokolow).

I am trying to find out what happened to Sura GOTTLEIB and Pessel
REICH. Does anyone have my missing relatives in their tree? Thank you.
Please respond to me privately.

You can help us collect Ukrainian vital records #ukraine

ukrainesig.images@...

Can you help us collect vital records to be translated and indexed?

We have obtained images of more than 105,000 records of births,
marriages, divorces and deaths in nearly 50 Ukrainian towns >from
microfilms in the LDS collection. Thousands already have been translated
and indexed, soon to go into the searchable JewishGen Ukraine Database;
work continues, extracting and indexing data >from thousands more
records. I'd like to keep the acquisition inventory far ahead of the
translation effort.

Here's how you can help the Ukraine SIG Vital Records Acquisition
Project. You don't need to read or translate Russian, Ukrainian, Hebrew
or Yiddish. Basic familiarity with a personal computer, directory/file
structure and handling jpg images is all you need to learn how to use a
microfilm scanner.

Do you live near one of these places?

Bloomfield Hills, MI, Family History Center
Boston: New England Historic Genealogical Society (You need to be a member.)
Chicago area: Arlington Heights Library
Cleveland Public Library
Dallas Public Library
Knoxville, TN, Family History Center
Los Angeles: Family History Center in West L.A.
Mesa, AZ, Family History Center
New York City: Center for Jewish History (downtown)
New York City Family History Center (uptown)
Oakland, CA, Family History Center
Portland, OR, Family History Center
Toronto Research Library (public library)
Washington, DC, area: Family History Center in Kensington, MD
Worcester, MA, Public Library

Those are the best-equipped FHC locations we know of. You can spend as
little as a couple of hours a week to make a significant contribution.
Send me an email if you're interested.

If you live near a Family History Center not listed above, maybe you
still can help. Search FHC locations at this URL:
https://familysearch.org/locations/centerlocator

Let me know what you find.

Beginning after the upcoming holidays, we can make great progress by the
end of 2014.
