The Prague City Archives has listings for the families of both Adolf and Jacob. Both mention Bechcin and Adolf's lists Jibstebnitz as his birthplace. The girls will be harder to trace.

Here's the address for Adolf's record: http://amp.bach.cz/pragapublica/Zoomify.action?scanIndex=0&entityRef=%28%5En%29%28%28%28localArchiv%2C%5En%2Chot_%29%28unidata%29%29%28202862%29%29

Here's the address for Jakub's record: http://amp.bach.cz/pragapublica/Zoomify.action?scanIndex=0&entityRef=%28%5En%29%28%28%28localArchiv%2C%5En%2Chot_%29%28unidata%29%29%28202958%29%29

My great grandfather Jacob aka Jakub POLLAK born Bestin or Bechcin in
Bohemia in 1861 had eight siblings born in the many towns where his father
Yitzhak worked as a travelling Hebrew teacher. I have not been able to track
any of the eight and wonder if any other SIGGERS may have them on their tree
or come across them in their own research?
Do any of you know about Marie born Stresmir 1845 or Wolf aka Adolf born
Jistebnitz 1848 or Sofia born Bestin 1850 or Emilia born Bestin 1852 or Anna
born Wosek 1854 or Theresia aka Rosalie born Bestin 1856 or Eleanora born
Bestin 1857 or Lotti born Bestin 1859.
The POLLAK family moved to Prague in 1871 and lived in house 270 according
to the police records.
Their mother was Elizabeth POLLAK born Lochovice and died Prague 1890.
Yitzhak died also in Prague 1883. Jacob died in Terezin 1942.

Property in Hodonin #austria-czech

rickglaser@...

I was hoping that someone might be able to point me in the right direction
about how to respond.
I realize that this is not a strictly genealogical question, but it does
involve genealogy.

I received an email >from Petra Blahova, an official in the city of Hodonin,
saying that there was some property that belonged to my grandfather,
Richard Glaser, who died in 1939. The city of Hodonin wants to purchase it
from the heirs.
She sent me a document in Czech that looks like it may be some sort of land
record, naming my grandfather and his brother, presumably as the owners.

In order to proceed further, she asked for the address and date of birth of
each of the heirs.

In this age of identity theft, we are a bit wary of giving out this info,
not knowing what may be next - bank acct? something else?

She sent an aerial photo showing teh property, which is now a parking lot,
next to some buildings that look to be perhaps 10 stories tall. It is
about 700 sq. meters. I am thinking that there is not a huge value to this
property, but if we are entitled to it we would like to pursue it.

Has anyone had any experience with this sort of thing?
Any resources that you can point me to in order to further check out the
legitimacy of this?
Any other thoughts about this.
Thanks

Dear Gersig members,
Last month I was at Weissensee cemetery in Berlin. I did notice some graves
had little brass medallions which could be opened. Behind the little brass
doors, pictures of the diseased were placed. Very unusual on Jewish
cemeteries, but little treasures for genealogists. Many pictures were taken
out, but a view remained. I placed 5 of them on viewmate:

Artur GOLDSTEIN born December 26, 1921, died December 6, 1932

Nadja TODDES nee DLUGATSCH born April 15, 1879, died November 9, 1909

My Schwartz family homesteaded in Lipton, Sask in 1900. I've found a few records
of them >from the sources mentioned here. They did farm visits every year and took
inventory. Those records are online at the Canadian Jewish Heritage Assn.

The Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada has lots of interesting things online.
I need to go there one day! They've been happy to hear >from me when I've written,
but haven't been able to provide specifics.

I've recently learned that new records are available >from the Canadian Museum of

This is my great uncle Wolf Kisilevskij, also spelled Kissilewsky, with
five other handsome intellectual looking gentlemen. He is the one in
the top row on the right, and his friend Mark Solomonoff is in the
middle in the bottom row. Says taken in Berlin in the 1920=92s. He
became an engineer and worked in France for their airline and worked on
the Caravelle aircraft. What university could he have been going to in
Berlin? Would anyone be able to identify or recognize the other
