Community Lists: Augsburg #germany

Lande

In 1946 the Central Committee for Liberated Jews sent questionnaires to
Landrats throughout the United States zone in Germany asking a series of
questions, including information on former Jewish residents in their areas.
The quality of the replies, available in the USHMM collection 68.096M, vary
widely, >from responses that simply stated that there were no longer any
resident Jews, to brief summaries of what happened to the former community,
etc. A few also listed former residents and what had happened to them. I
am gradually going through this substantial collection and will identify
those collections that may be of interest to Gersig researchers.

One of the first, with a substantial listing of prewar residents and their
fates is Augsburg. I would be prepared to make copies of the Augsburg pages
if there is anyone prepared to enter the names and relevant information into
a database for Gersig/Jewishgen. If anyone is interested, preferably
someone with a real interest in Augsburg, please contact me.

I will continue to go through the collection and will report on other
significant town collections.

Alexander,

You should check FamilySearch.org. In the the immigrant cards for Brazil,
Ellen Margot FABIAN's card appears.

Brazil. Her father was called Hans, I have been unable, as yet to find
out anything more about Hans Fabian: this person might very well have
been my great-great uncle. Any information would be most welcome.

Dear Genners

It appears that I turned two numbers around

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM37493
is in Russian
and

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM37495
is in Polish.

The labels on the requests were correct but the email was not.

Can anyone advise whether it was usual for widows upon remarriage to

JAFFE - Zembin, Belarus #general

David Goldman

Hello Jewishgenners. I was just about to post certain questions about part
of my ancestry and then realized >from the archives that I had done so
originally back in 1997.
So now I am focusing on whether there is data out there for the family name
JAFFE in Zembin (now Belarus) near Barysaw, Belarus today. I had a
great-great-grandmother >from there, and my old postings indicated that her
husband Yerucham ZISELMAN lived in Zembin before or after they lived in
Stary-Borisov.

LDS Microfilm Help in Former Hungary #general

Hi,

I wonder if anyone is working at/has any access to LDS Microfilm
number 623511, as I can't access it being resided in Israel. The
record is >from Subotica, Serbia (back then, Szabadka, Bacs-Bodrog),
from the Hungary census of 1828. I have an entry number in case it is
possible to search for it. I don't know what other details are there
(if any) apart >from the name and address already digitized, but if
there are any it could be very meaningful for me.

Also, I would like to ask if any of you know - has this specific
census recorded only household heads or full families? What was the
criteria for recording a person in such census in the Kingdom of
Hungary?

Thank you on advance,
Amit Naor
