Aron and Leie TEICHER: who knows their descendants and fate? #general

Leah and Eli Teicher

Dear Genners,
For several years I am "stuck" in one of my family's research. Repeating the
research was unfruitful.
Even though- I am trying to find descendants, if there are, or the fate of
my father's in law uncle who immigrated to the U.S.A for 4 times being a
resident in U.S.A.
No evidence was found as to what happened to him or to his wife after
lending in New York...

His name was Aron TEICHER (Born 1871 - 1873?), his wife Leie/Lina/Lena (born
1878/9?)
Aron Teicher was the son of Chunne/Chunna/Khunna TEICHER. (right name -
Chunna Teicher was my father in law grandfather)
from the village Rudniki near Zablotov/Zablotiv, then Poland now Ukraine.
He declared so every time he arrived in N.Y, also that he left there his
father.

What is known is (Ellis Island and Ancestry.com data bases):
1. Aron TEICHER's arrival: November 27th 1899 to N.Y to his brother in law
Lewis Fischman who lived in 114 1/2 Essex St., N.Y
Passenger ID:604028050096
Could not find Fischman's descendants

2. Leie's arrival on February 13th 1900 - to her husband who lived in the
address above.
ID:603798020256. Could not trace her.
As to Ancestr.com - There is a woman named Lena Teicher. I have her
death certificate and tried to
Find their descendants no luck.
Her husband there is Hyman Teicher.

3. Aron TEICHER (written as a mistake Feicher) arrival 26th November 1909
(RESIDENT!)
To his aunt Ciwye TEICHER, who lived in 292 Cherry St. N.Y
On that arrival he declared he was single, he was detained for couple of
days and released as he was a resident.
There in his record line it is written he arrived also on 1905 to the
U.S.A
ID: 101728020408
And when he was released his ID no. was 101728020574

Tried many names' and surnames' variations to find Aron TEICHER and Leie
TEICHER as an "American" ones - no luck so far. I have no idea if they even
left the U.S.A

I am curious and anxious to know these people and at least their fate.
My husband has no extended family and we might go this summer to the U.S.A.

Most thankful to any idea how to find them.

To answer Rachelle Litt's posting:

"What shipping Lines should I be focusing on for emigration
from Soroca Moldova, Chernvitzi Ukraine to Argentina in the early
1900's - about 1930? Most of the family who came to American went by
way of Bremen through Warsaw. Would this be the same for Argentina?
The ship might have might have passed through Brazil first. I am
looking for Meyer Znayde and his wife Tsilya and their children Samuel
and Sarah (there was a third child also but I do not have the name)
.After living in Argentina they left for Brazil and arrived in Brazil
landing at the pier of Santos in 1936. I am looking for this manifest
as well. Sarah was born January 26, 1923, that is the only birthdate I
have. "

Family Search (http://www.familyseach.org) has a great collection of
South American records, including visa information for Brazil and
Argentina, a rich resource for genealogists.

In checking records for Brazil we find what looks like your family:

Meyer ZNAYDE and Silvia ZNAYDE with daughter, Sarah ZNAYDE IANCHEL, in
an identity card issues in 1944 having lived on "rua Prattes 446" from
"Solteira, Russia." Meyer is an accountant. (Perhaps Sarah is
married by then?)

Also...

Meyre SNAYDE coming to Rio de Janeiro in 1942 en route to Uruguay.
His birthdate is listed as 5 March 1945, but this must be in error,
given the date of emigration, but the town indexed as "Thernovic,
Russia," is definitely "Czernovitz. His parents: Seilik SNAYDE and
Rosa SNAYDE. On this card it looks like he came >from Cherbourg in
France.

The direct link to the search engine is here:

https://familysearch.org/search/collection/location/1927159

(But always use the global search engine as well..just in case.)

Search on both spellings as Soundex didn't bring up both at the same
time. These cards have other useful identifying information that may
lead you to other records or places. There are photos with both sets.

Note that many records have not yet been indexed, but the images are
available which you can search through as if you were at the archive
and presented with a record book. Time consuming, but often
rewarding. More indexes are always being uploaded, so check back.
This is an excellent, free resource.

Good luck!

Thank you, Craig, for this valuable information.

Alas, it is quite heart-rending that this database is unavailable for
online viewing.

Not everyone can visit the USHMM library and see the letters.

I have family members who were in the Lodz Ghetto and perished therein
or were deported to the death camps.

I will never be able to see these letters---and neither will other
family members---because for all intents and purposes if they are not
online, they are simply unavailable to those who need them for closure.

ZAJDENKUND - Warsaw & Bichawa #poland

Dear friends,

I am looking for any information about the ZAJDENKUND - ZAJDENKIND
(and possible other spellings).

I have already searched the JRI-Poland database, Genealogy Indexer,
JewishGen Poland Database.

My research indicates that the family originated in Bychawa near
Lublin and then lived in Warsaw.

It seems that this name is very rare, and all people carriyng it
are related.

There is a family story about a female member of the family who
immigrated >from Poland to South America during the 1930s.

Your thoughts and help will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Abraham ABRAMOWITZ-born Jerusalem 1894 #general

Yonatan Ben-Ari

It has always intrigued me if there is/was a family connection between
Abraham ABRAMOWITZ who was born in Jerusalem in 1894 and my
grandfather Chaim Yitzchak ABRAMOWITZ who was also born in Jerusalem
in 1895.

Abraham, I believe married a CHARLAP and eventually moved to Chicago
where he served as a Conservative Rabbi during the 1930-1950s. My
grandfather also emmigrated to the states in the 1930s but returned
after a 5 year stay there.

Several years ago I was in contact with descendants of Abraham A. but
they could not confirm whether or not there was a connection between
our two families. I would be happy to reconnect with Rabbi Abraham
A.'s family to see if there is a connection.

Connected to the above is a rumor told to me by a distant relative -
also ABRAMOWITZ- that there is a building in the Geula section
(actually Achva) which seems to have been known as the ABRAMOWITZ house
which had been given to "Kolel North America" in Jerusalem. The teller
of this tale said that this ABRAMOWITZ was on our family name. Being
the family geneaologist I am a bit surprised that I never heard of this
story and my guess is that it is not connected to our ABRAMOWITZ family.

was my father-in-law's grandfather) >from the village Rudniki near
Zablotov / Zablotiv, then Poland now Ukraine. He declared so every
time he arrived in N.Y, also that he left there his father.

What is known is (Ellis Island and Ancestry.com databases):

1. Aron TEICHER's arrival: November 27th 1899 to N.Y to his
brother-in-law Lewis Fischman who lived at 114 1/2 Essex St., N.Y.
Passenger ID:604028050096. Could not find Fischman's descendants.

2. Leie's arrival on February 13th 1900 - to her husband who lived
at the address above. ID:603798020256. Could not trace her. As to
Ancestry.com - There is a woman named Lena Teicher. I have her
death certificate and tried to find their descendants; no luck. Her
husband there is Hyman Teicher.

3. Aron TEICHER (written as a mistake Feicher) arrival 26th November
1909 (resident!). To his aunt Ciwye TEICHER, who lived at 292 Cherry
St. N.Y. On that arrival he declared he was single; he was detained
for couple of days and released as he was a resident. There in his
record line it is written he arrived also on 1905 to the U.S.A.
ID: 101728020408. And when he was released his ID no. was
101728020574.

Tried many names' and surnames' variations to find Aron TEICHER
and Leie TEICHER as an "American" ones - no luck so far. I have no
idea if they even left the U.S.A.

I am curious and anxious to know these people and at least their
fate. My husband has no extended family and we might go this
summer to the U.S.A.

Most thankful to any idea how to find them.
