Hello Audrey,
Was interested to see that you have a SILVERSTON ancestors. I am
wondering if there is any connection with my 2x great grandfather Jacob
SILVERSTONE, who was born in Warsaw about 1790 and was living in London
by 1827, before emigrating to the USA in 1840?

best wishes, Gerald Newnham, <gerrynuk@gmail.com>

VERY SAD NEWS #galicia

Ann Harris <aharr14@...>

It is with profound sadness that Gesher Galicia must announce the
sudden death of the creative force behind our organization. Pamela
Weisberger died this morning in Santa Monica after a brief illness. She
cannot be replaced. She will be missed by all of us in the Jewish
genealogical community worldwide. She was tireless in her efforts to
expand the knowledge and practice of family history research in novel
ways that had enormous impacts for so many. She was gracious and
fun-loving, tough, reliable, and very funny. We are in mourning for
our substantial and devastating loss.

To her husband Ken Kaufman and to her three children, Michael, Nick,
and Lily, we want to express our most sincere condolences. A
celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, September 30, at
7:00 PM at the Bel Air Country Club, 10768 Bellagio Road in Los Angeles.

It is with tremendous sadness, shock and devastation that I share with you
the tragic news I received this morning.

Our Vice-President of Programs, Pamela Weisberger, passed away this
morning, September 25, 2015, after a very brief illness.

At present, I have no information regarding services.

We will have a memorial later, but I am too shocked to try to put
anything together right now.

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with Pamela's family...her husband
Ken, her three children and almost son-in-law, and other relatives and
dear friends.

JGSLA and the world of genealogy have truly lost a remarkable individual,

and we are all the poorer for it.

Sandy Malek
President, JGSLA

Moderator: I share Sandy's shock and deep sense of loss. Pamela was a friend as
well as a fellow genealogist with whom I shared Magyar roots and a passion for
research. Our loss cannot compare with her family's but, without a doubt, the
impact of her passing on all of us who comprise her extended genealogy family will
be significant and long lasting.

I recently discovered a new Jewish research Institute in St Poelten in
Austria. The researchers there have bene most helpful and referred me to the
Meldeamt in the same town which provided me and my cousin with residence
records for our great uncle Siegfried WINTER >from Straznice and his wife
Aurelia Winkler v Haberfeld >from Kuzelan and Vienna.
This is very exciting and a breakthrough in my WINTER family research after
many years of hitting brick walls.
You can find the Jewish research Institute at :

help ad/ed? #general

Wendy Griswold

Hello, cousins, Shana Tova.

I keep trying to find the ADs/EDs and I always do it wrong.
Dyslexic or just bad at following directions, I don't know.

Looking for census record on my grandmother's brother,
Moses/Moshe/Morris/Moritz PFEIFFER (spelling gets mangled,
of course). He should be at 69 Willet St. in New York City
in the 1905 NY census and the 1910 Federal Census.

I came up with AD/12 ED7 for the New York 1905 census. It had
house numbers on Willet St., but not the one I need.

I have confirmation at that address in 1909, so have tried
looking in the 1910 search engines, and no luck. I think I need
to go back to the census rolls and I would love some help with AD/ED.

Thank you so much!

Searching: BLITZ, PFEIFFER around Zurawno (Galicia)
EINHORN, WENZELBERG, SHIFULDREM around Nowy Sacz (formerly Galicia)
DWASS (any spelling), SOROKOFF, around Ekaterinoslaw (also distant
GARFINKEL connection around Vitebsk)
