I just wanted to thank all the people who provided me with tips,
links, sources, and other information to help me find my cousin
Johanna HEYMANN MOSBACH ROTHSCHILD, who had immigrated to Brazil in
1939. As a result of the efforts of so many, I now know who Johanna
married in Brazil and when, where and when he died, and when and where
she died. I was helped by people >from several SIGs---GerSIG,
LatAmSIG, and JewishGenSIG. I tried to thank everyone individually,
but in case I missed anyone, I hope you will excuse this cross-posting
to all three SIGs.

I believe the topic is about German Jewish Immigration in Brasil.
German Immigration in Brasil is something else.

I'd like to point out that CEMLA's database does not cover Brazilian records,
nor could it. CEMLA is a private Institute, based in Buenos Aires, whose
main purpose is to produce academic studies on migration in Latin American.

Besides, CEMLA has an important library dedicated exclusively to
Argentinian migration, and provides an online database of information on
the influx of immigrants in Argentina .

While migration studies have a supranational character, legally
and ethically each country is responsible for its own records
on migration, citizenship and travel

Hello All --

The Senior group at Tiferet Bet Israel, the Blue Bell Conservative
Synagogue in Blue Bell Pennsylvania is seeking a volunteer presenter
for an Introductory Genealogy Workshop on Wednesday March 9th at 11:30.

The TBI Senior Group is comprised of active, independent seniors. Most
of our members are in their 70's and 80's. The programs begin with a
lunch and then a presentation, which usually last for 45 minutes - 1
hour. Although of advanced age, most of our members are eager
participants (i.e., they ask a lot of questions).

Details in a nutshell:
Wednesday March 9th at 11:30am (presentation is after lunch, so around 12:15 or
12:30) 35 -40 attendees

extracting the Jewish entries >from the 1901 Klyachkin All-Russia Business
Directory for Bessarabia and the portions of Transnistria that are under
the SIG's jurisdiction. (Some of the towns are also within the
jurisdiction of the Ukraine SIG.)

The extracts include 544 Jewish entries, >from 31 towns, for grocers,
haberdashers, manufacturers, bankers, and notaries who worked in the
early 1900s in Bessarabia and Transnistria.

The extracts and explanatory information will soon be posted on the
Bessarabia SIG's website. The materials have also been submitted to
JewishGen for inclusion in its searchable databases; the materials
should be included in JewishGen's May 2016 updates to the databases.

Thanks to Ala Gamulka, Genny Imas, and Inna Vayner for preparing these
extracts.

Hello,

I am requesting translations for the backs of three photos that were sent to
my grandparents. My father and I are searching for our lost family members.
His parents, my grandparents, came over with their new born son (my father's
brother) >from Vinnytsia (we think), Ukraine/Russia in 1921 to Philadelphia,
PA. They lost track of the rest of their families when they left. His
parents names were Bercu (Beryl) Litvac and Golda (not sure of her last
name, maybe Uswinsky?), and the son was Chaim Felwich Litvac. We know that
Bercu had a brother David, and two sisters names unknown, who went to
Argentina. We don't know the names of any of Golda's family.

We have two photos of Golda's sisters and one of her mother, sister and
brother (we think) which I have posted on ViewMate, that have some writing
on the back for which we need a translation. They are in Yiddish. I
previously posted two of the photos but requested a translation for Hebrew.
We would like to know any names, dates, cities, or other information that
might help us in our search.
