Searching for Laszlo (Ladislaus) Berczeller (1885-1955), born in Budapest, Hungary #general

Bill Shurtleff <billshurts@...>

I am writing a biography of Laszlo (Ladislaus) Berczeller, a Hungarian
food physiologist who invented the world-famous Edelsoja soy flour.

Born in 1855 into a wealthy Jewish medical family, he lived and worked
in both Vienna and Germany for many years.

He died on 14 Nov. 1955 in Switzerland at age 70, alone and penniless.
I am searching for relatives or those who knew him.

Thank you - Bill Shurtleff

Janette Silverman <cochairs@...>

Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies have agreed to make their
lectures available through LIVE! real-time video streaming service. The
36th International Conference on Jewish Genealogy will take place at the
Sheraton Hotel in downtown Seattle >from August 7 to 12. LIVE! uses the
latest in video broadcast technology to stream lectures in real time to
the computers or mobile devices of those who have signed up. In
addition, LIVE! content is available on-demand for 90 days after the
conference, until November 11, 2016.

Conference presenters who are making their talks and slides available
through LIVE! include: Peter Lande of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum,
Jeffrey Malka of Sephardic Gen, former conference chair Hal Bookbinder,
Chicago area genealogist Mike Karsen, legal genealogist Judy Russell,
German-Jewish genealogical expert Roger Lustig, Miami-based genealogist
Genie Milgrom, Nancy Adelson of the Jewish Genealogical Society of
Washington State, W. Todd Knowles of FamilySearch and Nolan Altman,

LIVE! is a way to be virtually present at sessions when you can't attend
the conference. You can kick back at home and feel like you are there.
And for conference attendees, it's a way to get to sessions you might

them all?

The conference website, www.iajgs2016.org, has complete details on how
to register for all levels of the conference, including LIVE!

This summer's conference will feature a Jewish Film Festival put
together by leading Jewish film scholar and teacher of cinema Eric

Searching Smolowicz / Smolevichi and MATUSEWICZ #general

Jack & Mariann

Hi,
I am looking for any information on the town of Smolowicz in Belarus. My
Grandfather built a flour mill there in the late 1800's to early 1900's. It
was built on a river to take advantage of the water power. The family I am
looking for is MATUSEWICZ. One part of the family had a large house and a
large family in Smolevichi. The other part of the family had a large truck
farm and employed young girls to work in the field in Smolevichi. Any
information would be very much appreciated.
