Viewmate translation request: Polish and Russian (I think) #general

Celia Haupt

Hello all

I have posted 4 pages >from my grandmother's autograph book, for which
I would appreciate a translation if possible.

from Polish:
http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM61291
http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM61292
http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM61294

from Russian (possibly):
http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM61293

I so appreciate the help of the wider JewishGen readership. These
pages and translations are proving very useful to trace some of my
Bobbe's travels in Poland, as well as hopefully helping others in the
shtetls identified to find messages written by their ancestors.

Please respond on the Viewmate form provided.

Regards
Celia Haupt

English Marriage Record? #general

Liz Hanellin

Hello all,

I am looking for the marriage record of Annie GANNELIN (born Sept. 7,
1883 in Russia, probably Minsk) and William (Wulf) RUBINCHIK (born July
10, 1883 in Bobruisk, Minsk, Russia). The marriage occurred in Manchester,
England in Sept. 1906. Needless to say, I've seen both names spelled with
some variation. Annie and William had a couple of children in England
before immigrating to the US in around 1912.

Annie is a relative of mine, though I haven't been able to fit her in my
tree just yet. I'm hoping the marriage record might provide some new
information (especially parents' names) that could help.

All advice is welcome!

Best,

Liz Hanellin

Upcoming publication regarding 400 letters from Germany 1937-1941 [The letters are at LBI] #germany

Tom Krakauer

My parents left Hannover, Germany in 1937. My mother saved about 400 letters
that circulated between my grandparents and my mother's 5 siblings
that told the story of what the family went through as the noose was
tightening.

The events include Krystallnacht and the farewell letters to members of
the extended family who would not survive. My grandmother indicated that
the "Waiting was the hardest thing".

The letters have all been donated to the Leo Baeck Institute. Of greater
value may be the book that Dr Edel Sheridan-Quantz is writing about these
letters. The book will be published next March in English and German
by the Erinnerungs Archiv in Hannover

I will let you know when the book is published and how you might obtain
a copy if you are interested.
