MOROCHNIK, KRANTSOV #ukraine

According to the Odessa census of 1897, my grandfather Yezekiil Krantzov was
a boarder and probably apprentice tailor in the household of a master tailor
Abram Yankelevich Morochnik (born 1837) and his wife Zislya (born 1857).
They lived at an address that was the site of a pogrom in 1905. Does anyone
have any information about either of these families?

My great grandfather Lebya Leyzerovich KRENTSOV was born in 1848 in Dashev
and was recorded in the Tulchin records of 1875 with a son Leyzer. Would it
be usual for Lebya to have a son with the same given name as his
grandfather? Any information about Lebya or his wife would be appreciated.

Itchak Aizik DEN Family #general

Sheldon Dan <sheldan1955@...>

I am doing some research into a branch of my family originally of
Upynas, Lithuania.

Itchak Aizik DEN (1847-1925) married Goda Malka (Molly) HERSCH. The
family genealogist discovered this branch of the family in Australia
and I am familiar with some of it. Here is what I know:

Benjamin DEN, born in 1875 in Taurage, Lithuania, may have been a
deaf-mute.

Reuben DEN, born in 1877 in Taurage, changed his name to REUBENSOHN and
married Anne NEUMAN, born in 1885. The family moved to Johannesburg,
South Africa, where Reuben became known in the mining business. His
daughter Ruth married Zavel JAFFE and had two children, Allan and Renee
(who married Meyer PESACH). The second daughter was named Lucille.
Reuben died in 1942 in Johannesburg.

Aaron DEN, born in 1879 in Taurage, married Khana SUSSMAN and had one
son, Labke (Leon). They may have died in the Shoah.

Yossel DEN, born in 1890 in Taurage, married Rebeka KATZ, born in 1893.

Julius DEN lived in South Africa; his children eventually lived in the
United States, South Africa, Australia, and Israel.

Rebecca DEN married Louis ORLOVSKY and their children lived in the
United States.

Jacob DEN lived in Lithuania; his children lived in Australia.

Any information regarding this branch of the family would be appreciated.

Thank you to all who tried to help with the illegible town name in
Romania my great-grandfather was born in. It turns out it was
Semionovca, which is currently in Moldova, about 60 km south of
Tiraspol, and at times has been owned by Russia and Romania (and was
Romanian when he came to America). Mystery solved! Thank you!!

Re: Anna KATZ nee WILDER or HONIG, Brody --> Brooklyn -- Thank you all! #general

Joyce Eastman

I wanted to thank everyone who responded to my original e-mail seeking
information about Anna Katz, who was noted on my uncle's request for
immigration in Vienna, Austria in 1938 as his "aunt" living in Brooklyn, NY
- previously unknown to any of us in our WILDER family. It now appears from
information received >from the many people who replied to my inquiry, that
Anna Katz (born Honig recte Wilder) is in fact the sister of my paternal
grandfather, Salomon Wolf Wilder. I am in the process of gathering more
documentation >from IKG-Wien regarding Anna Katz as well as her daughter
Hesie, who both resided in Vienna, Austria prior to their departure for the
US in 1920. IKG-Wien has been an invaluable resource in the past to find
out more about my paternal grandparents and their family by providing
documentation not only of their existence, but also about the fate they met
during the Holocaust.

Many thanks to all of you for your diligence and the information you
provided, and a special thanks to Barbara Zimmer for the extensive
information she provided to me that will definitely assist me with my
inquiry to IKG-Wien.

These digests are an invaluable resource, and the people who read them are a
great help in finding information that you might never have found on your
own.

I've reposted ViewMate #379, and I'd like identification of the woman
sitting down. The individuals standing are Raizel Lisnitzer Perlman
and her husband, Ozik Perlman. They may have lived in Izyaslav, Ukraine,
but I'm not positive.

Could the elderly woman be Ozik's mother? I know she's not Raizel's
mother.

Thanks for your help.
