New indices to be added to JRI - Poland database #poland

Stanley Diamond

Dear friends of Jewish Records Indexing - Poland:

As a result of the tremendous efforts by JRI - Poland Shtetl CO-OP
leaders and their teams, Shtetl CO-OP coordinator Hadassah
Lipsius, and our data manipulation volunteers, the flow of completed
indices has been heating up. As a result, there is now actually an
extensive backlog to be added to the database.

As soon as JRI-Poland Database Manager Michael Tobias (the most
overworked volunteer in the Jewish genealogical world) gets back
from and recovers >from his research trip to Belarus, we expect the
indices to an additional 25 - 30 thousand records for the following
towns will start to appear in the database:

Brzeziny
Drobin
Konskie
Kurow
Lodz
Radomsko
Radzilow
Sochocin
Wolbrom
Wyszogrod
Zdunska Wola
Zychlyn

Carol Edan <caroled@...>

Shalom,

I finally recieved my ggrandmother's maiden name in 3 versions, each on a
different certificate. On none did I find birthplace other then Russia.

My greatgrandmother who I fondly remember as Boubei, was known as
Mary/Miri/Maryon/Miriam and Mikela - MUSNITCHKY-MUNETSKY-MUSHNITSKY-
depending on which document you are looking at.
The oldest one was my grandparents wedding certificate >from 1910--Mikela
MUSNITCHKY.
On her husbands death certificate -Jacob POLEY- wife listed as Miriam
MUNETSKY- 1936
On her death certificate-- Her fathers name is listed as Jacob MUSHNITSKY
her mother Anne?-1945

Made no actual hits on Family Finder but did write to those that where
close. Mary's last residense was Gomel. Does this ring a bell?

Happy Chanuka

Searching: Allan GREENBERG / Etta LEVINE #general

Jeanne Gold <JeanneGold@...>

Dear JewishGenners,

Maybe someone out there knows this family and can help me to locate them. I
think they may have been in NY originally, then NJ and/or CA.

Etta LEVINE was the daughter of Jacob LEVINE (or LEVIN) and Rose (Resha)
GOLD; her siblings were Murray and Samuel.

Etta LEVINE married Allan GREENBERG and had two daughters, Janice and
Marilyn, who may have gone by their mother's maiden name, LEVINE, rather
than their father's surname, GREENBERG. Marilyn married ??? BERKOWITZ and
lives somewhere in Tarzana, CA.

Allan GREENBERG died 1/13/1998 and is buried at Cedar Park Cemetery (NJ) in
the "Gold Family Plot". Etta may still be alive and her last known address
may have been 8385 Woodhaven Bl, Jamaica, NY (though she's no longer there).

Unfortunately, I have virtually no dates/places for these people, but
here's a summary:

1 Jacob LEVINE
+ Resha "Rose" GOLD, b. 1878-1881, Grodno, Belarus

2 Murray LEVINE

2 Etta LEVINE
+ Allan GREENBERG, d. 1/13/1998, buried Cedar Park Cemetery, NJ
3 Janice LEVINE/GREENBERG
3 Marilyn LEVINE/GREENBERG, married ??? BERKOWITZ

2 Samuel LEVINE, d. at the age of 12

If you know this family, please contact me privately. If I can find them,
they might be able to clear up one of my biggest mysteries.

Thank you in advance for any help you are able to provide.

Regards,

Jeanne Gold

Hi Jewishgenners-
A distant and elderly family member gave me the names of Elie PAGIRAS
in Tel Aviv and Joseph PAGIRAS in Pepignan, France as sources for the
ZEMAN/ZYMAN family history. She also mentioned Michel PAGIRAS,
son of Joseph and Marie.
I wrote to Elie in Te Aviv some months ago, but have not heard >from him.
Could some kind Jewishgenner in either of these cities look up addresses
and phone numbers for these men?
I would be happy to do research in Los Angeles in return.
THanks so much in advance.

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone who has used the records filmed by LDS could give me a few pointers on how to figure out exactly what I am looking at to help me find the record I need. Since I do not speak Polish I am having great difficulty deciphering the microfilm! I am looking at the records for Suwalki, Poland, 1878 - birth, marriage, & death. The particular record I am looking for is the marriage of my great grandparents, Chaim GREMZFIANSKI and Michla Michalina WILEMBERG. If anyone could give me a few hints as to words or phrases in polish I could look for to narrow down which is the record of their marriage. I guess I just did not expect the microfilm to be in paragraph form. If anyone knows what those surnames would look like in Polish, that would be a great help as well.
thanks in advance!
