Re: Gershom and Gershon #general

Aida <atedege@...>

Yesterday I forgot to qualify what I had said about
the meaning of the name Gershon/Gershom: much of it is
what researchers call "folk etymology" and the
'banished/stranger' explanation for Gershom probably
belongs to that category. Sometimes the exact
etymology of a Hebrew name is not known.

Best wishes,
Aida Rauch [Belgium]

VM 9881/9880 Hebrew translation help needed #general

Dayna <zoeys_mom@...>

A cousin of mine recently came across a postcard and
letter sent >from Sejny, Poland to Pittsburgh, PA.

I have enhanced the postcard a bit to make it easier
to read, but I do realize it is still challenging. If
anyone who reads Hebrew could give the translation a
shot, I'd be very grateful.

I mistakenly put that the documents are in Yiddish,
but two Genners have already written to inform me that
they are actually in Hebrew.

Thanks in advance. (:
