Hello all,
For those of us unable to attend the IAJGS conference this year, (and
therefore, unable to see the Sugihara documentary) does anyone know if it
will become available to organizations for distribution in other cities?
Also, is it available for rental or purchase by individuals? Thank you for
your assistance.

Rabbinic Genealogy SIG #Rabbinic Pinchas of "Kalik" #rabbinic

Yaron Pedhazur

Dear fellow researchers,

During my research I came across 2 persons called Pinchas, ABD of a
town called Kalik.

The two may be actually one, as I suspect they lived in the same
period approx (end of 18 century - beginning of the 19th).

1. Pinchas of Kalik, son of Rabbi Zeev Wolf of Zhitmoir, author of
"Or Ha'Meir". Pinchas was son-in-law of Rabbi Hirsh Leib LANDA, the
first of the chassidic Alik dynasty. Pinchas was also father-in-law
of Rabbi Yochanan of Rechmistrivka, son of Rabbi Mordechai TWERSKY
of Chernobyl.

2. Pinchas of Kalik, who married Rachel, daughter of R. Mordechai
MARGALIOT of Brody. Pinchas was the father of 1) Sander Shmuel of
Horchov, father in-law of Pinchas of Ustila, the grandson of Rabbi
Mordechai of Neschiz 2) Mordechai of Koretz, father-in-law of Rabbi
Yosef of Tortshin, son of the "Choze" of Lublin 3) Moshe of
Sadigora, author of "Pnei Moshe".

My questions:

- Is it possible that the two Pinchas are actually the same one ?

- Where is the town Kalik/Kalek located? what is the correct name?
I spelled it according to Hebrew writing, I am not sure about the
right one.

- Any further details about Pinchas of Kalek (any of the two ...)
and their / his descendants / ancestors ?

- Is it possible that the family name Kalich / Kalech originates
from this town ?
Thanks in advance,

Yaron Pedhazur

Paula and Leo ROTHSCHILD #germany

Mark and Tamara Shofron

Genners:

I am seeking any information on Paula (b 1899 Hamburg)
and Leo ROTHSCHILD (b 1894 Lohrhaupten, Germany). They
arrived 27 Apr 1939 in New York with children:
Berthilde (Hilda) age 13, Tirzah (Terry) age 11, Karlo age 7
All the children were born in Hamburg, Germany.

The girls were said to have moved later to the
Netherlands and, presumably, married.

Interestingly, Paula's maiden name was ROTHSCHILD (I
believe she was granddaughter of Bonum ROTHSCHILD and
Sara MOSES). Her husband, Leo ROTHSCHILD, may have
been her cousin. Any help would be appreciated.

Hit a brick wall - need advice #germany

Debby Gincig Painter

For years now I have been trying to find my Greatgrandfather William
GINCIG / GINZIG parents with no luck and my head is starting to hurt >from
banging on that brick wall!

This is what I have so far:
Birth certificates for children narrow his birth date to February 10,
1873 or February 15, 1876, died Los Angeles, Feb. 10, 1936 (age 60),
cert #8847. I do not have a couple of his death certificate and a
couple people have searched in NY for a birth certificate with no luck.
Wiliam married Lena MORRIS about 1899 - however 1900 Manhattan census
shows her living with parents in 1900 and there is no mention of William
nor of their first child Ira. (Another twist here as well: According to
Ira's WWI Draft card he was born December 15, 1899 but the California
Death Index shows his date of birth as December 15, 1901. But there was
supposively another son - Issie - born February 15, 1901 certificate
15056 [do not have a copy yet]. I have not been able to find anything
more on Issie.) No marriage certificate have been located yet.

Varying immigration records do not show the family either (used dates
1867-1876).

I did find this family in the 1880 census and believe it to be his
family but am unable to definitively connect them. Also they do not
appear again in any other census - unless of course the spelling is way
off.
Charles GINZIG 45 <1835> GER Self Married White Male New York
(Manhattan), New York City-Greater, NY Occupation: Necktie Maker
Rachael GINZIG 43 <1837> GER Wife Married White Female New York
(Manhattan), New York City-Greater, NY
Bernard GINZIG 21 <1859> GER Son Single White Male New York
(Manhattan), New York City-Greater, NY Occupation: Peddler
John GINZIG 18 <1862> GER Son Single White Male New York
(Manhattan), New York City-Greater, NY Occupation: Peddler

(Manhattan), New York City-Greater, NY Occupation: Peddler
William GINZIG 4 <1876> US Son Single White Male New York
(Manhattan), New York City-Greater, NY

Other information I have:
There is a Morris Ginzig born August, 1867 who married Julia REINNHEIMER
(source: familysearch.com LDS records/1900 census). His parents were
both born in Germany, he immigrated about 1871 (1910 census), and he was
a jeweller in NY (1930 census). However his parents listed as Charles
and Rose (Mincey) Ginzig (familysearch.com LDS records) but I did not
find them in the 1880 census or another census. To complicate matters
even more, a cousin remembers her father travelling to Cheasapeake Bay,
NY to collect an inheritance >from an Uncle who was a diamond merchant
who supposively never married. (Sorry don't have a year when he
travelled to Cheasapeake Bay..)

Does any one have any advice as to how to proceed? Please reply privately.
Thanking all in advance,
