There are directories out there but finding them for the war years will be
next to impossible. The National Library in Prague has copies for 1925 and
1926:

Adresár mesta Košic = Košice város címjegyzék
Boehnel, Richard
Košice : Stát. kníhtl.,
1925

Hi Kisvarda folks,

My mother, Erzsebet Klein, was a member of the
Kisvarda's women's graduating class of 1919 and a
picture of the group is on Viewmate--VM6577. Perhaps
someone will find a familiar face there. If so,

INTRO: Researching LANGUS family's possible German connection #germany

Shelly Crane

Hello GerSig,
I just joined the group. I have been doing genealogy research for less than
a year.

My paternal relatives came >from the Ukraine (the Kiev and Volhynia region,
primarily) and maternal family lived in the Lomza Gubernia of Poland. One
branch of this maternal side may have either originated in Germany prior to
going to Poland, but this is uncertain.

What I do know is that one of my great aunts Rebekkah (Ruth) LANGUS,
daughter of Froim and Dwejra GABELMAN, moved >from Rajgrod, Poland to Germany
before coming to the US in 1920's. She was born in 1901.

I don't know where she lived in Germany, but the town listed in the Ellis
Island database is "Przyroscheln." Couldn't find that in Jewish Gen shtetl
seekers, so the spelling must be way off. Any ideas where that might be?

The last bit of information is that the US Holocaust Museum database listed
2 people with this surname: Rolf and Siegfried LANGUS. Both were apparently
from the Dresden Memorial book.
Anyone have LANGUS in their family tree or know what town Przyroscheln might
have been? Thank you very much,

Shelly Crane crzprncess@aol.com California, USA

Other names I am researching:
Anywhere in Lomza-Suwalki, Poland: DANOWSKI , FAJNTUCH FRAJND/FROYD,
FROMSEN, GABELMAN, LANGUS, LIPOVICH/LIPOWICZ/LIPOFF, LIPSZYC, MILEWICZ,
PRESSMAN, WINICKA.
Gabin, Poland BALL
Location unknown: FLASTERSTEIN, GORELIK
Ukraine: GITERMAN, BLAZ/GLASS, KWATCHINSKY, LEFELMAN, LIPOVETSKY,

searching for GALANTER from Beltsy #general

The Goldsteins

I'm just beginning a search for my father's family. My father, Louis
GALANTER, came >from Beltz/Beltsy in Russia (now Balti, Moldova?) in
1922. He came with one brother, David, who died when I was 7 years
old and had no family. The rest of my father's family never made it
out of Russia before the iron curtain fell. My father died in 1973
at the age of 70. My father's parents were Sarah/Sorke and Jonathan
Galanter. His siblings were brothers Joseph and Moty/Mottel, and
sister Rose. Rose married Chayim, but I don't know their last name.
They ended up in Siberia. His brother Joseph got to Israel in the
early 1970's but died shortly after that. But I'd like to find any
cousins I might have. I have only a half dozen letters that got
through to my father >from his family over the decades. The letters
were written in Yiddish, and I found someone to translate them so I
could begin to piece some information together.

Does anyone know of Galanters >from Beltsy or know what records I can
search online? Any help or clues would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Seeking information: Heinrich FERNICH and Theresia ISRAEL #germany

Carlota Widman Dublon <cwidman@...>

Seeking information regarding Heinrich FERNICH born ca. 1823 in Klotten,
died in 1909 in Schweich.

Parents Samuel FERNICH (or VERNIG) and Theresia ISRAEL.

I am trying to confirm if Heinrich´s father Samuel and my gggrandfather
Lazarus FERNICH (married to Magdalena KOCH, Gemuenden) were either brothers
or first cousins. Also to establish if he have had descendants (probably
born in Klotten or any other town, excepting Schweich) as well as
information about his wife Theresia and the Isay >from Oberemmel.

Henrich FERNICH was married - according to the booklet "Die jüdische
Bevölkerung im Einvohnerbuch Schweich 1669
bis 1880" by Hans Peter Bungert - to Jettchen FERBER b. ca. 1817 in
Oberemmel (the daughter of Israel FERBER and Esther ISAY).

Also living in this town appears Judgen FERBER, who seems to have been
Jettchen´s sister, according to the above mentioned source. She became in
1845 Moises Isay (b. 1769 -d- 1849 Schweich) second wife.
Thanks for your cooperation.

I want to express my grateful thanks to Celia for all her kindness and hard
work, on my behalf. It has been very much appreciated. At last I now know
where my father's family lived in the East End.

May I now ask, please can anyone please tell me what happened to the
synagogue in Salzburg. Was it destroyed on Crystal Night, was it ever
rebuilt? Does anyone know?

kindest regards and best wishes to you all
