Tiraspol Cemetery photographing #ukraine

Yefim Kogan

Dear Bessaraber and Ukrainian Researchers,

Bessarabia SIG started recently a project to photograph all the graves at
Jewish Cemetery in Tiraspol, Moldova, formerly part of Kherson Gubernia.

Town of Tiraspol has dual "jurisdiction" at JewishGen. It belongs to
Ukraine SIG and also to Bessarabia SIG. You can find a lot of information
on that town at Bessarabia SIG website: photos, Tiraspol Zionists project.

There are at this time 2469 records at JOWBR for Tiraspol. Our goal now is
to get the photographs for all these records, and also add records, which
were not part of this first 2469. I expect to have about 1000 additional
records or more.

I am in touch with one of last Jews living in Tiraspol, and he has already
started to send us photos of the graves. Janet Furba, former resident of
Tiraspol and I are Project leaders for this important addition.

I would like to ask all our members to contribute to the project: Tiraspol
Cemetery project among other Donation project. You can find it at
Bessarabia or JOWBR part of Donation projects. We need money to pay for the
photographs we are going to put at JOWBR, JewishGen.

To contribute, please go to JewishGen / Donate / Bessarabia SIG / Tiraspol
Cemetery Project or direct link is
http://www.jewishgen.org/JewishGen-erosity/v_projectslist.asp?project_cat=43
(you need to login to JewishGen).

We may also need volunteers to check the records against the images. Please
send me any questions, suggestions.

Bruce Adelstein <adelstein@...>

The Missouri Secretary of State has death records online for people who died up to 50 years
ago.

http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/

I found this very helpful when looking for my St. Louis relatives. Pay particular attention to
the parents, spouse, and the informant (who is often another relative).

I did a quick search for Becker. (There's a lot of them.) I was able to find both Dora and
Jennie.

Dear Genners, Marilyn asked about Era/ Vera and Shantzie Becker in the

Dora and Jennie BECKER at the same address in the 1920 census. I
could follow them back to 1900 and forward past 1920. I suspect that
Dora died in 1924 (there is a death notice). Jennie was still single
in the 1930 census.

Bennett Greenspan, President/Founder of Family Tree DNA says there were no
more than 25000 Jews in the 14th century, and by marrying each other, we are
highly related. DNA has proven I am distantly related to each of my wife's
parents and most Jews that match one of the 11 profile I manage, match all
