Castle Garden Immigration records for PERSKY family - 1892 #general

I am looking got immigration records for the Persky/Perski family who came
to the US/NYC through Castle Gardens in 1892. Does anyone know how to
access this info? The name of head of family was Eliezer Mordechai ben Tzvi
Persky, he arrived in 1892 >from Volozhin Russia, Minsk Province. I do not know
the name of the ship or port of exit. If anyone can help me with this, I

Success story: VARSHAVCHIK and RAYKHZELIGMAN #general

Hi,

from time to time I check JewishGen/LitvakSIG for updates on my
RAYKHZELIGMAN family.

Recently, I was very happy to see that on the LitvakSIG births there was a Ginde
RAYKHZELIGMAN married to Yosel s/o Ezra SHATIL. I went to the All Lithuanian
Revision Database to check SHATIL and found SHATIL Ginde d/o Yosel. In the
comments column was written: "lives in house of Rejkhzeligman; 1st husband A.
Yu. Nevyazhskij; 2nd husband Shatil"

I then checked out NEVYAZHSKIJ or NAVIASKY and found there her 1st husband:
Abraham Yudel NAVIASKY, and it was written there child (what I believe was their
only child) - Ieremaya b. 1862.

But there's more to the story. I sent an email to several genealogy forums and
someone wrote and told me that they had more RAYKHZELIGMAN information and would
I be interested? Of course I was!

The info was promptly sent me which showed that one of my ancestors Nakhman
(b.1848) s/o Yosel (who happens to be Ginde's father too - para. 2 above)
RAYKZELIGMAN was married to Khaia (info that I had on my tree) and that Khaia's
maiden name was VARSHAVCHIK >from Kaunas/Kovno.

I immediately went to JGFF and found quite a few VARSHAVCHIK variations there.
I sent off emails via JGFF and not much later that day (taking into account time
difference between Israel and East Coast USA) I got a reply >from a VARSHAVCHIK
descendant; we have compared our trees, and they match!

What could be more exciting than that!

Ellis Island certificate of landing #general

I have posted to ViewMate a photograph that belonged to my grandfather
(Mosche SZAUBMAN/SZOBMAN). No one in the family is sure who these
people are or, for that matter, where or when the picture was taken.

The current hypothesis is that it may be a photo of the family of my
ggf Noach GERSZTENBLIT, his 2nd wife, and his many children. If so,
the photo would date >from Lublin in (approximately) 1910.

I'd like to know if the clothing, hair styles, etc. are consistent
with that hypothesis.

Hi,

Since what you're looking for is "very specialized", if no other perfect
solution turns up, you could possibly use software like "Brother's Keeper"
that allows creating an "Event/Fact" with respect to any individual in the
tree, plus naming witnesses to the "Event/Fact" and then assign the "Mentors"
as witnesses to this "Event/Fact" (for example Education)... And use a
second different ""Event/Fact" (any one of the dozens that Brother's Keeper
has built in) and name the "Disciples" as "Witnesses" to this event.

In Brother's Keeper, "Witnesses" become part of the family tree and
therefore could also be assigned wives, children, Mentors, Disciples and
other "Events/Facts" as well as relationships of their own.

property to them that was used as Jewish communal property; I know
that the Rav asked my ancestor to leave his Rabbinic post in Most and
move to Belz to be his Shochet, etc. But the mystery of the maternal
ancestry of Reb Yissacher Dov's (I) zt"l 2nd wife, Chaye Devorah a"h,
this may never be solved because of lack of attention to the females.

Does anyone know the religious practices for this Manhattan Synagogue
between 1905 through 1915?

I am assuming it had an association with Koidanov(o) which was in Russia then,
but is now Dzyarzhynsk Belarus. I have read extensive information about this
town which mentions multiple Chasidic movements including Lubavitch. Again,
my question is limited to 1905 through 1915. I will cross post if needed.
