Searching: WEXLER/VEKSLER and village of Kalin #belarus

J Wexler <wexler1980@...>

I am researching the surname: WEXLER/VEKSLER >from the
village of Kalin which is 3.5 kilometers >from Kurenets
in Belarus and 50 kilometers North NW of Minsk.

I have a record of my great grandfather SHMUL MENDLE
VEKSLER born 1855 in Kishinev and it states his father
YOYNA/YONA VEKSLER wife PESYA was >from Kalin.

I have been unable to find out any information about
Kalin except that there were only @ 500 Jewish people
living in the village.

Does anyone know of this village or any information?
I have looked into Kurenets, in the Yizkor book is
where I found it was 3.5 miles away, but am very
interested in Kalin.

More deciphering help #austria-czech

Judith Berlowitz <judigenie@...>

Dear AC-SIGgers,
Thanks to SIGgers Traude Triebel and Hanus Grab for
recent assistance and sharp eyes in deciphering and
translating these Prague documents.
Now I'd like help with that of my 1c3r, Sofia HECHT
and her husband, Siegmund CERWINKA, at
http://digi.nacr.cz/prihlasky/index.php?
session=4b27cdc762a9994e3c2c29e6e093a7f6&action=record&x=71&t=6&m=1

Information I can't quite make out includes his
birthplace (Lazne Kinzwart??), and his Heimatschein
for 1877. I believe Sofia was born in Michle, Prague,
and the wedding date/place is clear.
Is the writing in the lower right corner of any
significance?

I would appreciate any private responses.

Warning about unscrupulous researchers! #romania

Rosanne Leeson <rdleeson@...>

Dear All,

Judging >from some email messages I have recently received
it is time for the usual warning about unrequested approaches from
individuals who claim to be professional reseachers in Romania, who see a
posting asking for information about a certain family, or town records, and
offer to help.

Due to the poor economy in Romania there are those who are desperately
seeking to increase their personal income, at your expense. The few
legitimate professionals do *not* use this approach.

Should you receive such a message volunteering services, please contact
the Co-Coordinators of this SIG *before* replying to them in any way, for
more information.

In addition, certain members of this list have been using the listings in
the JGFF to contact members and to volunteer information about a
researcher. Please be aware that this is in violation of JewishGen rules
and policy, and has been since the time the JGFF was initiated online!

Further, these are private mailing lists and it is a violation of trust
for
anyone to copy a message and send it off to another person, mailing list,
or website for their use. We expect all of our susbscribers to respect
the rights of others subscribed to this list.

Private responses to requests on the List are permitted, but
even those should be checked first with the Coordinators!

Remember - Caveat Emptor!

I have posted 4 documents on Viewmate that are related to my husband's ggf,

Would someone be so kind as to help me with a translation? Even a rough one

R' Abraham SHAPIRO of Vranow #rabbinic

Moishe Pariser

Hello

Does anyone know the children and grandchildren of R' Abraham
SHAPIRO, Rabbi of Vranow (Slovakia) who died 1865?

He was a son of R' Yakov SHAPIRO, Rabbi of Hummene (died 1828).

I know of 2 children:

1) R' Shimon - he had children: R' Duvid, R' Mordechai, Hinda

2) Faige (married R' Eliezer LEBIWITZ, author of Dameshek Eliezer on
Mogen Avrohom - Oirach Chaim). She had children: R' Moishe Yehuda
ABD Senta, Chaya.

There was a Feige Rochel SHAPIRO (grandchild of R' Abraham) married
to R' Yechezkl Faivel STOLLBACH, who lived in Lezajsk (Lezensk,
Poland). I would like to know whose daughter she was.

If you don't know, where can I ask?

Thanks
Moishe Pariser
