As of earlier this year, there was a 2nd database of about 50,000 records
from the Warsaw Cemetery that is held by the previous Cemetery Director,
Boleslaw Szenicer. Part of the story is described at:
http://www.jewishgen.org/jri-pl/warsaw/warsawcem.htm I do not believe
Yisroel Szpilman had this data although this situation could have changed.
I have persaonally dealt with both men and they have both been very helpful
to me. If anyone needs contact information for Szenicer please contwct me
privately.

You can write directly to beisolam@jewish.org.pl to Mr. Yisroel Szpilman,

Origin of certain name combinations #hungary

Miriam.Rubin@...

Does anybody have a logical explanation why the following name
combinations 'went together'?

- Ithamar Ephraim
- Yechiel Mechel
- Tzvi Aryeh
- Levi Yitzchok

I am aware that if a righteous person had these names, the name was given
over to the next generation, however
I would like to know the ORIGINAL origin >from where these derivatives were
paired together.
Thank you.

Mielec cemeteries in NYC #galicia

Joyce Field

Caryn Leifer provided important information today on the Mielec
cemeteries in the NYC area, located on Pitkin Avenue between 80 and
84 Streets in Ozone Park, Queens, Mokom Shalom, Arcadia and Bayside.

What is needed now are volunteers in the Spring, Summer, and early
Fall to go to these cemeteries to photograph the matzevot and index
the information, submitting the photos and data to JewishGen's
Online Worlwide Burial Registy (JOWBR). All the information for this
searchable database is donated to us. We can provide translation
assistance of the inscriptions on the tombstones, so don't let this
deter you. JewishGen has no staff to go to cemeteries and index the
burial records. We rely on individuals who are dedicated to
preserving Jewish history to provide this data.

The searchable database is at
http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/cemetery/. Information on forms
and procedures for submitting material is at
http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/Cemetery/JOWBRinstructions.htm.

If you want to see which cemeteries and landsmanschaft plots have
been indexed, please check the cemetery inventory list at
http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/Cemetery/tree/CemList.htm.

Contact me at <jfield@NLCI.COM> or Nolan Altman at <nta@pipeline.com>

Researching BORGER family from Rozwadow #galicia

Miriam Lampert <miriamlampert75@...>

I am researching the BORGER family >from Rozwadow. I
know that my great-great grandfather, Moshe (Menachem)
BORGER, who was married to Chana Freya PADAWER, lived
in Rozwadow and had 4 children (Shayndel, Pearl,
Chajcia and Hershel (Herman)). I believe that they
probably got married in the late 1870s/early 1880s.

I have tried searching for information about the
BORGER family on the various databases on the
JewishGen website and have not had much luck. If
anybody has any connection with this family name I
would be grateful for any information that they could
offer.

I know that Chana Freya PADAWER/BORGER died in Mielec
so the family might also have connections in Mielec.

Many thanks

In late 1908, my great grandfather, Mr Franz GINSBERG,
MLA, became a director of Kolmanskop Diamond Company,
based in Cape Town. Its shareholders included PC GRANT
and Grant (Broker), both of Adderly Street. The
brokers company could well have been called "Grant,
Grant & Co.".

Does anyone have any information about the Grants or
their activities?

Thanks, and seasons greetings from
