Brodnika Poland #general

Thanks to FamilyTreeDNA I have discovered a very very close 35 market match
with my family. Pieces of the puzzle are starting to fit together and it is
all very exciting! My new "Family" comes >from Bydgoszcz and Lobsens in
Poland. I had been told that my great great great grandfather was >from
Brodnik. Surprisingly, there is a Brodnika very near these two villages! I
don't know where this will lead. If you have family >from these towns I would
love to hear >from you. Surnames would be Pincus, Solomon, and Moore.

Also there is an awesome site for those looking to identify people in old
photographs

Bronx Synagogues #general

Eden Joachim <esjoachim@...>

I learned today of a a book devoted to synagogues of The Bronx, New York.

The book is available, in its entirety online at www.bronxsynagogues.org and
was written by Seymour J. Perlin, EdD.

There are maps, photos, history and memoirs and a search capability based on
address.

This is a great resource for anyone researching their family history in The
Bronx, as well as a fascinating read, especially for ex-Bronxites.

I have no commercial interest in this product.

Searching for USAF Captain Henry HIRSCH #general

Felicia P. Zieff <tzippy_chs@...>

Dear Genners,

I am searching for my father's cousin Henry HIRSCH, who after my father's
return >from the Hungarian labor battalions and death camps invited my father
to America. Subsequently, my father made aliyah to Israel and the
connection was lost.

Henry Hirsch was an officer (Captain?) in the US Army Air Force stationed at
the Straubing air base in Germany in 1945. Henry Hirsch lives / lived in
New York and to my knowledge he was a West Point graduate. He was the son
of Bela Hirsch >from Marosvasarhely (in Hungarian), Targu Mures (in
Romanian). Bela Hirsch was the brother of Albert Hirsch -- my grandfather.
If anyone has any information about Henry Hirsch or his descendents please
contact me at tzippy_chs@....

Thank you.

Re: Should we exclude the warts? #general

Nick <tulse04-news@...>

I would have thought that one has to use common sense here - producing all
the dark secrets might cause no problem if they are 150 years old, but even
then if an elderly child or niece or nephew is still alive they might take
exception.

Now if you are prepared to be written out of their will all well and good.

There is always the option of writing these as private memoirs for posterity
but not putting them on general release.

You can't blame some people if they don't like what you find out - if you
can't accept that then you shouldn't do it.

A 19-year-old would also recognise that the truth is not always pleasant -
and anyway there are generally arguments about the true facts - most
biographies there is controversy about - even more so if some family member
turns up all sorts of unpalatable truths - so if you are prepared to face
the music...

It might help if you said which "Edmonton Cemetery" you mean. I
know of three: Edmonton Cemetery in London, England, Edmonton
Cemetery in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and Edmonton Cemetery in
Edmonton, Kentucky, USA (I found that one with the help of Google).

Unfortunately I can't help you with any of these. But I just
want to point out once again something that posters should
remember: other Jewishgen members probably don't know which city,
or even which country, you're talking about, unless you tell them.

I, too, would like to know how to get Death Certificates >from Israel.

Please post the answer to that question to the list. Can it be that just
Mr. Klein and I are the only two genners that don't know the answer to this
question?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

In order to see how correct the information is on this web site I tried
looking for places in Israel. I could not find Jerusalem. I did find
neibourhoods in Jerusalem, with totally wrong population estimates, with the
map of the whole city attributed to each neibourhood.

I suggest you try looking for places you know about in order to determine
how dependable the site is.

By going "up" on the pages you get to the "world" and then you can choose
any place.

Oscar Guindzberg <oscmg@...>

Hello, mi name is Oscar Guindzberg, I live in Buenos
Aires Argentina.

My grandparents were polish, and left poland in 1938
and came to Argentina. My mother and me were born in
Argentina. Her parents were >from a town called
Zloczow, part of Galicia (now Ukraine).
My mother has applied to get the polish
citizenship 2 years ago in the polish embassy in
Buenos Ares. She haven't got any response yet.
Every time I call polish embassy in Buenos Aires, they
tell me "We don't have any news >from Warsaw".

This email is to ask you if does anybody know how to
find out what is going on with her application? Is
there an office in Warsaw where you can go and request
information about the status of your application? Do
you know someone or some company dedicated to help
people get their citizenship?

Thank you all, and again, sorry for the off-topic.
