Tdashkin name #general

Victoria Reed <researchtoldot@...>

Has anyone come across the name "TDASHKIN"? This name was remembered as "VDASHKIN"
but in the 1930 that is how it is spelled.

I've tried searching the EIDB for variants of Dashkin - to no avail. Joseph and
Julie "Tdashkin" state in that census that they arrived in 1930. Joseph was the
brother of a Helen Rubinstein, who was married to a Louis Rubinstein; they both
emigrated much earlier.

At this point I have no clues as to where this family came >from in Russia.

Thanks!

Re: GENI family trees #general

Martin Miller

GENI is only the latest in a string of these on-line ventures to contribute to what
I call a genealogical Tower of Babel. Once you share anything with anyone you lose
control. In my case it happened when a relative submitted all my research to that
outfit that asked for donations of family trees and sold them on CDs. The version
of the tree at that point had a serious error, and there was no way I could change
what he uploaded any more than I could ask for all the paper and electronic copies
I had distributed. Then that company was absorbed by another who dumped the
contents of those CDs on their site without even listing the submitter. It's been a
headache ever since, and more than one person isn't talking to me anymore.

Probably a dozen of our relative started trees on GENI using the data it has taken
me twenty years to collect. I have done my best to mitigate any damage by
correcting when I can, even signed up for the paid subscription. I have been able
to contact more living relatives in a week than I could in a year probably. These
are branches I knew about but couldn't find. And if you find a relative in a tree
submitted by someone on another line, you have another avenue of contact. Not
documentation, but contacts.

What do they say? Make lemonade?

Wosk family from Philadelphiya Do you recognize #poland

Hello

Can anyone identify the People in the pictures?

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=13749

To my best knowledge the picture is of Gersshon Wosk, his wife, sons
and daughters in low. Gershon Wosk was born circa 1890 in preznitsh
(Poland), immigrated to the U.S. circa 1912 and apparently lived in
Philadelphia. Contact with him lost in the early 50's. Gershon Wosk
was my paternal GM's uncle.

Thank you for your help

Trying to locate Abram Kotlyar family 1991 Petach Tikvah #ukraine

shermanr@...

After a translation of Tashkent documents I have discovered that Abram
Kotlyar b 1926 in Bershad son of Feygl and Kiva Kotlyar of Bershad survived
Shoah. His sister Bronya b 1930 and parents also survived in Tashkent.

Abram made testimony at Yad Vashem for his family members including his
grandfather Srul (Israel) Lukashevsky. Abram made this testimony in Israel
in 1991. At that time he was living in Petach Tikvah.

Any one knowing of Abram or his family please contact me. I have a family
photo of the entire Bershad family including Abram as a child.
