My grandparents: NEUMANN #hungary

Highman Heather

I have been under the misapprehension that my maternal great grandparents were from
Hungary, as my Mother and Aunt were born in Budapest. I know that they moved to
Bruno in the Czech Republic , as my grandfather started a branch of the family
business there. They were in ladies fashions and I know that they manufactured
and had shops as well.
Recently I was told that , no they were Polish! which put me back to square one
again.
What has added to my problems us that the family name is Neumann . Still , they
are my Neumann's, so I need help to point me in the right direction , to find out
where they came >from originally ,
My great Grand parents , were Shimon and Gitle Neumann.
My grand parents were Adolf and Eda Neumann ( nee Stempel )
And their children were Giselle , my mother, and my Aunt Renee.
I have my mothers birth certificate , but I don't know where to find her parents
marriage certificate.
I know that the Stempels were >from Zolynia and Kracov. And I have a lot of
information on them, It's the other side of the family, that is the problem ,
Thank you in advance,

Viewmate post 30083. Hello
I have posted in viewmate, a picture of six men in uniform >from the first World War
. I believe that one of them is my grandfather Mihaly Hahn who was then living in
Szabadka Hungary, now Subotica Serbia. This group would certainly have been in the
Austro Hungarian army. Does anyone know exactly what the uniforms are? Each of
the men has three stars on his collar. Does anyone know what that is? Thanks for any help

I should be extremely grateful if someone could suggest the best
source(s) for lists of names of those who 'served' with the Labour
Battalions...and survived the experience.

Thanks very much for that explanation, Chuck. So the Ukrainians wouldn't
let the Mormons photograph their archives. I'm actually glad to hear
that because it means there is hope that I could go there and find the
records.

I was afraid that the records had all been lost in fires and assorted
20th century turmoil, like so many of the Bessarabia records. Though I
do of course hope that the Ukrainians will reconsider and give access to
the FHC.

Does anyone know how much it might cost to hire a researcher?

ViewMate Translation Request - Russian #poland

Steven Taubman <taubman@...>

I have posted the following pages that I believe are written mostly in
Russian for which I would appreciate direct translations.

The following two images (same pages in each image, but different views
for inserted tabs) are >from the Radom Book of Residents for the family
of Szlama and Mirla TENENBAUM. I believe that most of the image is
written in Russian, but perhaps the inserts are in Polish(?).

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM30055

The following is a marriage record for Mirla RYCHTMAN and Szlama

Russian.
