Pam, the word is “child” and the age is 6/12 months old on that ship manifest.
 
  Just a hint for others.  I thought before I saw your Viewmate image that it was the name of the passenger on the ship that was in question.  You have an option of seeing another handwritten name of that same passenger on that same voyage.  It’s called the Ship Index Book.  Starting in 1906 every ship coming into the U.S. needed to provide a ship manifest to the authorities, and also a separate book of names of passengers and where they were on the ship manifest pages.  There is an index to book names (but be aware the summary information may be incorrect, the link to the page of the book index is ok.... and you may have to go to the cover of the “book” to see the ship and voyage date) and the scans of the pages in the book by rolls also available.  The writing is usually much clearer.  See the following at FamilySearch which has that resource.  This is an important resource especially if the scans of the ship manifest, done in the early 1940s, shows a lot of degradation of the pages (ripped corners, etc) while the ship books are usually pristine with their scans.

I have used the Jewishgen tools with no success.
A birth act in ROHATYN in 1911 says grandparents were from "Sarnek, Voln." which I guess might be Volinia (sp.)
The handwriting is very clear.
Any help to locate this place ?

MY GT GRANDMOTHER , Sarah Hanna Aurebach was last heard from about 1920 in Mariupul by Sea of Azov.  She had two children, Lewis and Diana ( or Mina) by this husband, Aurebach,   and I do not know his first name and my grandmother Racheal Blyiakiroff Bargman by first husband.Kalman Blyiakkkiroff. I do not know her maiden name or where she came from.

They are originally in German and Polish.
I do not find it in the help pages of MARVELOUS JRI-Poland, but I am sure someone has already done it.

je viens de lire, que vous cherchez des informations au sujet de la famille Philippe de Suwalki.
C'est le nom de SOLINSKI qui a attiré mon attention.
Je fais des recherches sur ma famille venant également de Suwalki .( Marcus, Gorfunkel, Dorn, Willemberg)
Ils sont arrivés à Paris, vers 1868.
Jusqu'à la guerre de 1940, notre famille était dans les chapeaux, il y avait un chapellier, pour homme, trés important ( peut être avec une chaine de magasin)
"SOOLS" qui appartenait à la famille Solinski, qui venait de Suwalki, et qui étaient des cousins.
Certains membres de nos familles arrivées à Paris, sont ensuite partie aux U.S.A; certains vers 1900.
Desolée,je n'ai pas vu votre message au sujet de Suwalki.

My name is Vitali Satanovski, and I am looking for my uncle, Satanovski (Czereniuk) MIKOLAJ.

My father, Satanovski Yakov, passed away in October, 2019. In his papers, I found his photograph in the Ukrainian traditional outfit. In the picture, he is approximately 3 years old. His older sister, Polina, told me, that my father and his brother, Mikolaj, were adopted by my grandparents, Satanovski Isaak (son of Gerstel) and Guralnik Anna (daughter of Peter) in 1940.

In 1940 my grandparents went to West Ukraine for a trip and in Stanislavov (presently Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine) were asked by their relatives to look after two orphans, my father Yakov (born 1936) and his older brother, Mikolaj (born possibly 1920-1925). In order to avoid possible problems, both boys were adopted, top government connections of my grandfather were involved.

As soon as WWII started, end of June 1941, my grandfather Isaak sent my grand grandmother Miriam, my grandmother Anna, my father Yakov, and my aunt Polina, from Kiev to Uzbekistan, Tashkent. My grandfather Isaak and my uncle Mikolaj left in Kiev. All attempts after WWII of my family to find any traces of the Isaak Satanovski and (?) Mikolaj Satanovski failed. Now I hope, that there is a possibility for Mikolaj to survive WWII under the name of Czereniuk and, I think, he may move to the UK, USA, Canada or Australia.

My grandmother Anna was born in Italy (Trieste), however, she studied at school in Vienna and she spoke perfect German with an Austrian accent. My aunt Polina told me that Mikolaj spoke some German with my grandmother, but very little Russian. Original birth certificates for my father and for Mikolaj were written not in Ukrainian or Russian, but in German or Polish. As adopted, they received new birth certificates written in Russian on the Satanovsky surname, however original birth certificates were left in their apartment in Kiev.

Any information and/or suggestions in regard to Mikolaj Satanovski/Czereniuk it will be highly appreciated.

Henia is a common woman's name.

It was suggested to me that the grave stones' Hebrew writing could show the family's original name.  My friend, for whom I am searching, was able to get grave photos from the Mount Judah cemetery in New York.
I am hoping that you kind and helpful people might be able to help me with this.  I will attach two grave photos to this post.  I have not been able to locate this family on any ships coming to the US nor in any of the databases in JewishGen most likely due to this name change.

Abraham Hirsch Philips (829 -1924)  was married to Dina Rachel Solinsky (? - 1922) and came to the US in the early 1900s. It is their grave stone photos that I have attached.

Hi Rene:
Aron Jankel is Mordchel's father. Gersz is Freida Dwora's father. 
When JRI-Poland first started the indexing in Bialystok, we had the indexer just provide names and patronymics. Later on, we asked for the father's and mother's names as well as any other names mentioned in the record. Somewhere in the future, we will update the short form index to the more fully extracted entry. For now, we have plenty of work indexing 1906-1919 births and 1906-1939 marriages and deaths. The last two years of each are not yet available for indexing, but are beyond the privacy law's embargo period.
