Would you be able to check this document from Bialystok?  It makes me wonder if Josel and Ethel had a child that passed away.  The dates would match and there is a time-lapse between siblings of 1885 and 1889.  Thank you.

Re: North Adams, Massachusetts - early Jewish settlers #usa

Adam Cherson

Due to some research I’ve done focusing on several villages in what I call the ‘Barukha Triangle’ (the area inside the triangle created by Lida, Vilna, and Minsk), I've caught glimpses of a Rabbi Dovid Rudnik who went from the Triangle (specifically, Traby) to North Adams, MA in 1884. He produced several children there (who I believe stayed in the N. Adams area).  He then proceeded to live in Cohoes, NY, where he boarded in the home of a family originally from Dieveniskes, so I believe there is a connection between the N. Adams and Cohoes communities, as well as between both places and several towns inside the Triangle. The Rudnik family was a rabbinical dynasty family and R' Rudnik may have been an early rabbi for the N. Adams congregation. Feel free to contact me offline if any of this may be of interest.

I'm pure Litvak on all sides and it was apple sauce all the way. Sour
cream means you only eat latkes with diary meals.  Side note: I have
spent several months in Lithuania over the years. "Kugelis" was
considered a Jewish dish, and it was always on the menu at the Vilnius
State University cafeteria.  It was just like my mother's kugel!  On one
visit I stated with the yiddish writer Gregory Kanovich.  His Lithuanian
wife taught me how to make the real thing.  I will share the secret with
anyone who writes me for it.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for letting me know and for your help. Abram ben Aron/Boruch KLATNICKI  was Ethel's brother.  We don't know how Pesza SZEWACH daughter of Iosel is related. Where is  Lopenice in relation to Wolkowysk?  Was there a birth location for Pesza?  Was there any additional documents for Aron/Boruch KLATNICKI.

I have the immigration and naturalization records for Boruch Schewach.  He was born in August of 1891 in Bialystock and immigrated in December 1910. Boruch's last residence was Bialystok. His father Josel was listed as a relative.  Josef's location was Grodno.

Dear Loryn

My paternal grandmother was Rose (Risha) Schewachs 1884-1939. She came to UK to marry Barnett Cohen (originally Baruch Kunyen) who I believe was a cousin and came from Vitepsk area. Her father was Yitshak Dov Ber Schuewachs. Rose had a sister Kayla who also came to UK and married and a brother whose name I do not know.
Do these names mean anything to you.

My grandfather and his brother-in-law had a tailoring business that was somewhere between completely hand-made and off-the-rack pre-made.  My grandfather Sigmund SEGAL in Parkesburg, PA measured a man, then let the customer pick what material and what styles of sleeve, body, etc.  The choices were picked up by Abraham BARMACH, who lived in Philadelphia.  The suit was assembled in a shop in Philadelphia and sent back to Parkesburg.  The time period was 1901 to 1909, when Sigmund died (age 29) and the business was closed.  I have their business card, which Sigmund's sister kept and passed down, until it came back to me.  Abe's grandson knew about the business and explained the details,  Sigmund's daughter (my mother) never knew any of this, because he died when she was just two.  She had no memories of her dad, and she died before I learned of his trade.
