Travel in Belarus & Eastern Poland #poland

rrrrgggg@...

Hi,

I am looking for suggestions about travel in Belarus and Eastern, Poland

Two weeks prior to attending the IAJGS 2018 Conference in Warsaw, my
husband Robert and I are planning to travel July 20-28 to Belarus
( Minsk, Radoshkovichi/Radoshkovits north of Minsk, & Grodno/Hrudna )
then to Eastern Poland ( Bialystok, Bielsk Podlaskie, & Bocki ).

We would appreciate recommendations for a guide & driver for these areas.

We plan on joining the Taube Tour to Krakow & Auschwitz, etc. Sunday, July
29-Aug. 3, 2018.

We don't know whether we should fly into Minsk >from JFK-New York in
order to get the 5 day Visa required in Belarus and After the conference
(Monday, Aug. 13, 2018) depart >from Warsaw's airport to JFK-New York.

We would still need to travel >from Minsk to Grodno/Hrudna, Belarus
and Bialystok , Poland and ultimately to Warsaw.

All recommendations will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Joan & Robert Ganz
Spring Valley, NY

Searching:

RESNICK, HOCHSTEIN, MARGOLIS/MARGOLIN

SANDLER & SUCHOWLANSKY
from Bialystok, Bielsk Podlaskie, Bocki, Poland and Grodno/Hrudna, Belarus.

Sokolow Malopolski #galicia

Leonard Oppenheim <lenoppenheim@...>

Dear Friends -

My paternal grandmother, Esther Heller Oppenheim, was born and raised
in Sokolow Malopolski. Whereas she and several siblings emigrated to
the USA in the early 1900s, other members of her family remained there.

More than 1,300 Jews lived there in 1921 comprising more than 1/3 of the
town's population.

Today is Yom haShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. There seems to be
no Yizkor book for Sokolow Malopolski, and the few records that I have
been able to find concerning what happened to the Jewish population
there during the Holocaust years are sparse.

Does anyone know of any sort of Yizkor book or other published or
written materials such as diaries, letters, or other sources of information
that memorialize events in Sokolow Malopolski during the Holocaust?

An article in today's NY Times notes that there are only about 400,000
Holocaust survivors still living. Does anyone know of any living survivors
from Sokolow Malopolski who may still be able to provide information
about the holocaust in that town? For current and future researchers
whose ancestors had connections with Sokolow Malopolski, any tidbit of
information may be very helpful.

Many thanks.

Len Oppenheim

Would someone know how to see an obituary published in the London Times

subscriptions.

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions,
You could go here, perhaps in a library:

I've posted several vital records for translation >from Polish into English,

clarify the first two, which have different Akt numbers: the births of Berko
Herszenfeld in 1830 and 1831, to see whether they are two different people
(cousins?), is one a duplicate record, or what. The parents may be Hindy
and Aaron Herszenfeld for one or both of these births. In all cases I do
not need word-for-word translation but am looking for all details, including
