Kollin family of Prague #austria-czech

vshovlin@...

I am researching the KOLLIN family of Prague and would like to share
information with anyone interested in my branch of the Kollin family. My
great-grandfather was Salomon KOLLIN (b.1849) who married Mathilde GROGER. His

father was Leopold KOLLIN (b.1819) who married Karoline KNINA. Leopold's
father was Elias KOLLIN (b. 1783 - and called Elvis in the Prague Conscription
lists) who married Rebekka PICK. Elias's father was Solomon KOLLIN whose wife
was called Sara or Jiske. All these Kollins were born in Prague.

I've traced Solomon and Jiske KOLLIN back to the 1793 Prague Jewish census and
would like to see how much further back the family was in Prague. The Czech
Central Archives says they do not have a copy of the 1783 census. Any
suggestions?

My grandfather, Rudolf KOLLIN, son of Salomon and Mathilde, and his brother
Fred emigrated to the U.S. and have many descendants here.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I just want to let you know that I am taking over moderating the Latin Am=

I need assistance--we need a research coordinator and a webmaster. Pleas=

I am also hoping that we might be able to designate individuals who may h=

I hope we can all work together to connect families, document Jewish fami=

It has come to our attention that some people are starting record projects
without contacting the coordinators first. This can lead to duplicate work
and duplicate expenses both for you and for the Romania-Moldova SIG.

Please contact one of us first so that we can determine if the SIG is able
to pay for the project and to see if the project has been started by
someone else.

Re: ordering microfilms for LDS #ukraine

Ariel Parkansky

Hello Kaye,
I've already ordered many copies of microfilms >from LDS but always knowing what
I was asking for. Normally I've searched for records on the Jewishgen database
(that indicate microfilm and record number) and with this information I
requested to LDS the original document.
The LDS form to request records asks for specific microfilm details. I'm not
sure they are going to send you anything if you only ask for a name.

In any case, if you have the chance to have an answer, I can recommend you to
ask for census or revision lists because they give you a global view of families
(parents, children, ages, etc.) in only one document.

I'm looking to find some information on my grandfather. He immigrated to the
US >from Brichany (Moldava) but we know that he wasn't >from Brichany
originally. My father's family belonged to the Smotricher Podalier society
in Brooklyn (a burial society) and we have reason to believe that my

HaLevi Krupnick (spelled Crupnic in Moldava) born about 1968. His wife's
name (my gm) was Goldie (we do not know her birth name) and she was born in
approximately 1873.

Family lore says that he had fled a Hassidic community in the general area
because he didn't want to be religious. And we have pictures of the family
taken in Moldava that show The family lore also says that he came >from a
rabbinical line. And we have pictures of the family taken in Moldava that
show them and their sons with their hair uncovered. I can scan the picture
in and send it if that would be helpful.

If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.
