Re: Searching: ALBER or HALPERIN or HALPER #general

Carol Rombro Rider

I want to remind everyone that the "best" resources are not always online. There
are countless resources waiting to be searched, indexed or even discovered. If
you have begun your genealogical search since the computer has been around, you
think everything you need is at your fingertips. Not so, and if you don't leave
your chair and do some real sleuthing, you will surely miss a great deal of
material.

In this case, the Jewish Historical Society or Maryland should be looked at. And
don't forget some of the academic libraries or even the Enoch Pratt Free Library
in downtown Baltimore that has terrific material I have seen.

If you have not read Dan Leesons's "A Genealogical Fable" on the Jewishgen
website, do so now. It should be required reading for everyone beginning this
fascinating hobby.

able to locate a census record for Mayer. I have not been able to find
naturalization record in the best known sources.>>

MINTZ in Dwyin/Kobryn #general

Sharon of Organic Elements <sharon@...>

Hello,

I am searching for any information about my grandfather's family in
Dywin though they may have had ties to Kobryn where his wife, Chilah
KLEINSTUB (later MINTZ) was from. My grandfather, Shmuel MINTZ who made
it to Palestine had a brother named Itzchak who died as a partisan, a
brother named Wolwe/Adolfo who escaped to Argentina and twin sisters
who's names I do not know. His father was named Mordechai MINTZ and his
mother Sheyna Dvora Shen Mintz.

Any information that anyone would like to share related to our family
would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time,

Sharon Mintz in San Diego, CA

Cemetery in Vilnius #general

דוד נ.א.

Hello
Does anyone know the condition of cemeteries in Vilnius?
Are there any online databases for searching one cemetery in Vilnius
apart >from the database of JewishGen?
Are there any burial records or monuments of Vilnius are not included
already in the database of JewishGen?
In short - I'm looking for the grave of Abraham RESNICK who died in
Vilnius in 1937. It does not exist in the database of JewishGen that
contains information about 6000 graves >from one cemetery of Vilnius.
How can I look for more?

Many thanks in advance
