Holocaust Death Place: "Leta, Hungary" #general

Rochelle Gershenow

Leta, Hungary was listed as the place of death in a page of testimony found
on Yad Vashem's database. The person for whom the page was written was
listed as living in Holshani, Oszmiana, Vilno, Poland (I believe this was in
Lithuania) during the war. I looked up Leta, Hungary but couldn't find any
such town. Does anyone know what the name of the town might be?

Daughter of Isabella / Bella EDELSON STALLER: Catherine? #general

Hilary Osofsky

We have hit a brick wall in our attempts to find the daughter of our
cousin, Isabella / Bella Edelson Staller, and hope that someone might have
information concerning her.

Isabella was herself born in Medford, Berks County, New Jersey, c. 1898.
Her parents were Bertha [Frank]. born in Alsace Lorraine, France, and
Lipman Edelson, formerly Idelovich, >from Russia. The Edelsons owned a general
store in Medord. Bertha's parents, Henrietta and Moses Frank along with her
brother, Ernest, who was a butcher in Medford, initially lived with the
Edelson family in the early 1900's.

Isabella's siblings were Samuel, Fannie and Ida, none of whom ever
married. During the 1950's, the Edelson siblings owned a famous bakery in
Philadelphia named Edelson Confectioners.

At some point after about 1930, Isabella married [Unknown] Staller and
moved with him to Marion, Indianapolis, along with her two sisters. She had a
daughter, Catherine?, born about 1935, who corresponded with her cousin,
formerly Barbara [Edelson] Schall. To date, we have been unsuccessful in our
attempts to find Bella's daughter.

We would greatly appreciate it if anyone with information concerning
either Bella's daughter or the Staller, Edelson or Frank family would contact me
privately at Hilary2@aol.com.

DUBNIKOFF and ROBERT #unitedkingdom

Dear genners,

I am looking for informations about family ROBERT in UK.
My great grand father Boris DOUBNIKOFF had a nephew, Robert DOUBNIKOFF
who maried in Paris in 1900 Jeanne SCHANDALOW.
They lived after that in London, Robert, also Leon, changed his name in 1938
in JACOBSON. But I have others documents wher he appears as Léon or Robert ROBERT!
He had three children:
-Edward born in 1902,Bertha born in 1904 and Marcel born in 1913.
On births certificates, their name is JACOBSON.
Robert ROBERT had two clothes'shops, one 134 Regent Street, "de la Roche" ,
the other,79 Brompton road,"ROBERT,maison de Paris".

The last informations i have are a marriage's certificate of his son Marcel
ROBERT with Valérie Monique WINOGRAD; adress is 50 Hans Crescent S.W.1 in West
London Synagogue ,district of ST Marylebone.
There is also a commercial chronicle in 1964 where Edward ROBERT, Marcel ROBERT
and Betty CHEVALLIER ( i think it is Bertha) signed.

Do thes names or adress sounds for you?
ROBERT is a commun name and it is difficult to choose what certificate order.
I thought i had a certificate for Bertha, but it is a mistake.
It is a marriage certificate Bertha JACOBSON/Nakifor RIANTZEFF in presence of E.C
ARNOLD and Jacques HURWITZ.
If someone is relative with these persons, i can send it.

Any informations about ROBERT family wellcomme.

Ordering records from Polish State Archives #general

Beverley Davis

I am on the point of applying to the Polish State Archives (PSA) for
copies of seven records I have found in the JRI-pl indexes. However,
I am confused as to the fees for (a) records >from different towns,
same gubernia, same province, but different Fond numbers and in
different Archives (first list below), and (b) for records >from
different towns, same gubernia, same province, with different Fond
numbers, but same Archives (second list below).

I am hoping that someone who has had been through this puzzle will be
able to help:

First list:
Town Przysucha, Gubernia Radom, Province Kielce, Archive Radom (two records).
Town Konskie, Gubernia Radom, Province Kielce, Archive Kielce (one record).

Second list:
Town Krasnosielc, Gubernia Lomza, Province Warszawa, Archive Warszawa
(Pultusk Branch) (two records).
Town Rozan, Gubernia Lomza, Province Warszawa, Archive Warszawa
(Pultusk Branch) (two records).

My ultimate aim is to avoid paying the huge bank fees which are
charged for sending money overseas, if I am able to consolidate my
requests in some logical groupings!

Many thanks,
Beverley Davis in Melbourne, Australia

Hi all,
I posted two documents (#18796 & #18797 on viewmate) found in my Great Aunt

ViewMate translation request - Polish Street name from which Opole? #general

m.steinberg@utoronto.ca <m.steinberg@...>

Hello All,

I've posted part of a record >from June 6, 1946, for which I need help
in deciphering one word >from the Jewish Historical institute in Warsaw
written in Polish. I know that the city says "Opole" but I would like
to know the next word. I suspect it is a street name, but I am not sure.
I cannot find a current street name to match anything that looks like
what is written here. Also, if I knew what the next word was, it would
help me to be sure which town of Opole this record refers to, because
there are a few "Opole"s in Poland. Thank you so much in advance for
your help.. It is on ViewMate at the following address:

Dear Genners,

A recently discovered manifest (Hamburg passenger Lists) gave the
name of Wirchowna, Galicia as the place of origin for my departing

Are there any other possiblities for Wirchowna?

Hello,

I guess, this entry is not >from Evangelical Records, but >from civil
birth records.
The civil birth records say the age of parents, but the Church and
Jewish records do not.
In Hungary, the civil registering started on October 1st 1895.

By chance I found in the Evangelical Baptism Records of Puspokladany
on the Salt Lake City Family Search website the following entry:
Ignacz SCHVARCZ, born 1-Nov-1895 in Puspokladany, Hajdu c. Father
Mihaly SCHVARCZ, age 40, lime salesman, born in Puspokladany.
Mother Hani SCHVARCZ, age 33, housewife, born in Gesztered.

Since the register is not transcribed, it is in photo format, I
figured that whoever may be looking for this person will not look in
an Evangelical register, and so I decided to create a record of it
here on our searchable list.
