JEREMY M FREEDMAN <jeremy01@...>

On behalf of the Gombin Jewish Historical and Genealogical Society (GJHGS)
I would like to express our thanks, in public, to JewishGen for agreeing to
host our website and email exchange under the banner "Gombin SIG".

Gombin (Pol: Gabin) lies 60 miles west of Warsaw, 15 miles south of Plock,
near Kutno, Lask, Gostynin and Zychlin.

You may well have heard of our work through our Israel representative, Ada
Holtzman, a visit to the GJHGS site will tell you a little of our history
and work

http://weber.ucsd.edu/~lzamosc/gombin.html

the address will move to JewishGen shortly

Anyone with Gombin connections or otherwise interested can contact us
through the guestbook

At a time when our previous host could no longer handle the size and scope
of our work, JewishGen stepped into the breach and we are grateful for the
prompt and efficient way the webmasters and others took us on.

Gene and Ellen Sucov <genellen@...>

I want to thank all of you who so generously responded to my request for
address or phone number for the above person, editor of the Yizkor Book for
the shtetl Horodetz. I have written to him (I didn't want to call him with
no advance warning) asking for permission to translate portions of the book
and to post them in the Yizkor Book database of Jewishgen. Hopefully I will
get a positive response in a few weeks or so.
Sincerely,
Gene Sucov

Nuremberg Trial records #general

Recently I recall someone looking for information on the Nuremberg trials, I
came across this site which might help:
Nuremberg War Crimes Trials:
http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/imt/imt.htm
One of our most important projects is mounting the full proceedings of the
Trial of the Major German War Criminals. We have so far mounted volumes 1-4 as
well as numerous supporting documents.

hope this helps-

Searching: POLONETSKY #general

Glenda Rogers <gar929@...>

Back in October I posted that I was researching POLONETSKY of Salem, Mass.
Through that post a "cousin" telephoned, whom I knew nothing about. The
RASPLERS of Delray Beach are related through Rebecca Polonetsky ROSEN. What a wonderful surprise that was.

So I thought I'd press my luck and see if there are any other POLONETSKY
genealogists out there:

My grandfather, Samuel POLONETSKY had the following siblings:
Lena POLONETSKY SONKIN; Bronx, NY?
Rebecca POLONETSKY ROSEN; Bronx , NY?
Shimeon POLONETSKY (POLAN); Iowa?
Mike POLAN; Scranton, PA?
Elliott POLONETSKY. ?

If anyone has additional information about these or any other members of the POLONETSKY family, I would appreciate their contacting me directly.

Hopefully I'll find more new cousins!!!

writes:

would anybody have information about vital records of Plonsk.
I would need to find a marriage record of June 1904.

According to Miriam Weiner's "Jewish Roots in Poland" virtually all
the vital records of Plonsk have survived.

Registers for the years 1895 to 1940 are available at the Civil
Records Office (Urzad Stanu Cywilnego) of the town and extracts
(not copies) may be obtained by writing to that office. See
Warren Blatt's InfoFile for more details on the procedure:

Years prior to 1895:

As part of the Polish State Archives /Jewish Records Indexing -
Poland agreement, JRI-Poland has now completed the data entry
of all the Jewish vital records for the towns/years in the Mlawa
Branch which were not filmed by the Mormons (LDS).

All the records for Plonsk, >from 1873 to 1895 have been indexed
but policy prevents JRI-Poland >from putting the data on the website
until the work has been funded. For additional details concerning
the Plonsk project and the records for other towns in the Mlawa
Archives, go the the Jewish Records Indexing - Poland website

Corinne Silver <silverlining@...>

I recently wrote and said that the London School of Jewish Studies at
Schaller House, Albert Road, London NW4 2SJ Telephone 0181 203 6102 is a
good source of information. The Liberian is Mr Ezra Kahan. They now have an email address which is lsjs@mailbox.ulcc.ac.uk
Their website is www.brijnet.org/lsjs/
They are primarily a modern orthodox Yeshiva/Yeshevot but their library
houses an amazing collection of Judaica.
If Mr Ezra Kahan is not aware himself of the information you are looking
for I can almost guarantee he will know of a book or journal that can
assist!!
Good luck.
Please note new email address!

I am seeking any information on Cieplice, Poland. It is located a few miles
north of Sieniawa, and not far >from Jaroslaw. My great grandfather Michael
NAGURNEY was born there in 1885, when this area was a part of Galicia, Austria
Hungary. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1903. I would appreciate any information about Cieplice, and any tips on the best way to research the town and its records.
