My grandfather's Ellis Island "Cause of Detention" codes are "JPG 1140 Monn".
Any ideas as to what they mean? He apparently was released the next day.

I think the word is "Shalom" = Peace (שלום). Only it's written as it heard in a Yiddishe dialect שולם = "Sholem".
