help finding Tenenbaum immigration to/from Piszczac to NYC
#general
Ayelet Porat <ayelet.porat@...>
Dear Genners,
Welcome your suggestions on how to proceed as I am currently stuck. The family story is that my g-grandfather Joseph TENENBAUM left Piszczac, Poland with his wife Sheva to New York to join his brother Abraham Tenenbaum already there. My g-grandmother couldn't get used to life in NYC and missed her shtetl, so at some point, they returned to Piszczac. Needless to say, virtually the entire family was wiped out in the holocaust a few decades later. I have found Joseph Tenenbaum's immigration record at the Ellis Island database He arrived on June 28th 1904 on the Noordam >from Rotterdam and listed his destination as his brother Abraham's address 224 E. 7th St. I have spent countless hours searching for his wife (and possibly children?) as well as for Abraham's arrival using Stephen Morse's search engines and NYC census's for the address given, without success. I also am not able to their way back to Europe. Glad for any advice. Thanks, Ayelet Porat Ramat Hasharon, Israel

Searching: MICHEL, WEINTRAUB, WAX, Russia
#general
Alison Poggi Leon <alison_poggi@...>
Hello. Using Ancestry.com, I found the MICHEL family in Seattle in the early
1900s. I believe Isadore MICHEL's father's surname was WEINTRAUB (but I don't have evidence, records, or a reason for the change). Isadore was born in Romania, but his parents were >from Russia. Fanny WAX was born in Canada, but I believe her family was also >from Romania or Russia. I would love to be able to trace the MICHEL, WEINTRAUB, and WAX families back into Russia and/or Romania, but I haven't had any luck so far. Isadore MICHEL born 1 January 1877,Romania -- parents Unknown WEINTRAUB & Unknown Fanny WAX born 1 November 1887,Canada -- parents Unknown Isadore and Fanny lived in Seattle before moving to San Francisco,CA I will cross-post this message to the Romania SIG as well. Thank you for any help you can provide.
