I have an image which has very kindly been sent to me but it is missing the Hebrew text - which I need for the Hebrew name. The tombstone is for Chone Meyer Kramer, number 5324. He died in Dec. 1960. If possible also Isaac Katz number BB1511 who died in May 1958 5154 - Hermie Evans who died in June 1960 Many thanks Michelle Essers Netanya, Israel |

Accessing phone directories for Prague and/or the Czech Republic

Amos Israel Zezmer
I have been unsuccessful in accessing online phone directories for
Prague and/or the Czech Republic. The one I found through Google seems hopeless, as the common surname of KALINA does not turn up a single hit. Does anyone >from our group have a suggestion? Thank you. Amos ZEZMER Yerres, France Researching KALINA, KATZ, WAGNER and WILD in the Prague metropolitan area |

I was recently provided with a scan of a letter dated 2 May 1942 written by
my great-great grandmother, Else Geiershoefer, to the "Abteilung für die Eingesiedelten", requesting an exemption >from the "Ausreise-Aufforderung III/440" on health grounds (she had a broken upper thigh). I should, however, be very grateful if someone could translate the Polish text at the bottom right of the letter. A scan of the letter can be found here: www.archeion.talktalk.net/ahs/Geiershoefer.jpg I gather that her request was granted, sparing her certain death at Chelmno, where I understand she would have been taken, although she nevertheless died in Lodz a few month later. Also, is anything known about the doctor she mentions, Dr. Gelber, and the medical provision that would have been available to her? Are there hospital records >from that time? Lastly, Else lived in the Steinmetzstr. Does that street still exist and, if so, what is its Polish name now, as I'd like to find it on Google, if possible, and perhaps one day visit. Many thanks, Alexander Schulenburg England |

I would like to apologize for any misunderstanding I may have
inadvertently created by promoting what I had not understood was a commercial offer >from Regina Kopilevich. Please accept my apology and I am sorry if I caused anyone to have hopes of finding records of their ancestors. I have known Regina for many years and think very highly of her. I just think this is a simple case of miscommunication and a lack of facts in advance of my posting my message. Please do not ask me for Regina's email address. She plans to post her own messages in the future. Howard Margol Atlanta, Georgia |
