StPetersburg ---> Paris 1860s, maybe a banker
#france
Israel P
This is my first post here. In fact, I joined this SIG for the prupose
of this inquiry. I am trying to learn some more about a Jewish family that went >from St Petersburg Russia to Paris France in the late 1860s. One daughter was born in St Petersburg in December 1865 and this woman had specific memories of eating rats during the 1870-71 winter famine in Paris. We are trying to determine what was behind the move and specifically if the father was employed by one of the banks. Does anyone have any idea what information might be available regarding bank personnel in Paris late 1860s (or St Petersburg 1850s and early 1860s)? Israel Pickholtz Jerusalem |

phylliskramer1 <phylliskramer1@...>
Thanks to all your wonderful JewishGenners who are interested in

Lefkovits Obituaries
#hungary
Beth Long
Somebody recently wrote that they searched the LDS Hungarian obituary
pilot site and were unable to find any Lefkovits listed. I just checked the site, and there were quite a few of them, actually. The glitch in searching is that the alphabetical order is messed up due to Hungarian vowels (which get kicked to the bottom of the list). So in this case, you need to search in the section that starts with "Lazar Krisztof". Beth Long Budapest |

Fall River, MA Cemeteries
#general
Mike Rubinstein <mrubinstein@...>
I need some help finding information regarding ancestors buried in the Agudath
Achim Cemetery in Fall River, MA on Newhall Street. Two of my ancestors who died in the 1920's were apparently moved and the temple does not have their death dates. If anyone can help, I am looking for Morris Rubinstein and Rebecca Perlitch. Of course, I can help if someone needs assistance in the Chicago area. Mike Rubinstein Naperville, IL |

JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen "Prisoner" numbers at Auschwitz
#general
Debby Gincig Painter
According to Mr. Klarsfeld book (Pg. 95) Convoy 11 (left July 27, 1942) arrived in
Auschwitz on July 29, 1942. He writes that the 742 women received numbers 12340 through 13081 and the men numbers 53829 through 54076. I also received a card through USHMM that states the following: dann n. Drancy ubst.u. i. LK Auschwitz eingel. HNr. vermutl. zw. 53829-54016 dated July 17,1942. (This is a typed card that seemed to have come >from Baltimore dated 31.1.1991). However, documents found at Auschwitz have my Grandfather's number as 24995. Could someone explain to me why the difference in numbers? Thank you Debby Painter gincig@... |
