my mother was born, 1900 as Chana / Hertha STCKEL at Krotozchin Posen.
my parents immigrated to Israel, 1934.
parts of my father family, died at the holocaust.
i tried to findout if there are more Jewish families, named "BEHLE".

I would like to invite all readers of JRI-Poland to take a free virtual tour
of the First World War, Vienna Jewish War Memorial. I do not think it has
been photographed and displayed systematically before. It is a genealogical
treasure house, especially for Galicians who are sadly very well-represented
on the plaques. There must be about 1,300 names in all. Why these names have
been chosen, out of what must have been 1000s of Jewish casualties, is a bit
of a mystery. I have not been able to get a sensible answer. I suspect they
are young men and officers who were brought back to hospital in Vienna, where
they died.

As this is in Zentralfriedhof Tor 1, I have added a dedication to Mr Walter
Pagler on the Map of the Zentralfriedhof. He died recently and did much
clearing, restoration and indexing work there, when no-one else was
involved. His caravan by Tor 1 was a sight everyone knew. We owe him a lot.

There are also 21 Russian Jewish POWs buried at Tor 1 and I have included
them on this site [see photo 24]. Here are the names:

on 7 April 1915 aged 22 for his Kaiser, his Vaterland and his "Judisches
Volk" [Photo 23]. This was only 25 years before the holocaust.

No, Tshernianka was not Trzcinica. The place you are looking for
is Czernianka. It is similar, but not quite the same spelling as
Czerniawka proposed by Alexander. That place was in the A.D. of
Jaworow.

Czernianka was a hamlet belonging to the community of Swiecany
("Genealogical Gazetteer of Galicia", p. B-10). It was situated in
the Administraive District of Jaslo. It was located at approximately
4946 3858 (Greenwich) or 4946 2118 (Ferro). According to the
"Gemeindelexikon von Galizien" (subject of many messages of late)
it had 78 houses with a total population of 405 in 1900.

BTW, for those who attended my "Jurisdictions" talk at the IAJGS
conference last month, this is one of the examples of a community
(Swiecany) that was not actually the name of a village. In other
words, there was no village by the name of Swiecany, but that was
the name of the "community." This community included many villages
and hamlets by various names including Czernianka.

I found in the Hamburg Passenger List the given name Zachower
for a cousin who lived in Podolia Gub, Ukraine, and immigrated to
Brazil. Here her name became Eva. As I have never heard the
name Zachower before, I wonder if it really exists, or if it could
have been misspelled. In this last case, what would have been her
correct name?
I have searched Google and also the Ukraine SIG > Given Names
DataBase and the closest names I came to were Zahava, Zehuva
and Khove.

Tshernianka is most probably: Czernianka - Jaslo Administrative
District. Czernianka is (was?) a hamlet and part of the Swiecany
Community. Swiecany is 8.3 miles W of Jaslo. Coordinates: 4946 2117.
