You can also consider materials in the archive of the Centrum Judaicum in Berlin.  It contains a large part of the materials collected by the Gesamtarchiv dear Deutschen Juden zu Berlin.  The catalogue of this archive is in the form of a 2-volume book: Quellen zur Geschichte der Juden in den Archiven der neuen Bundesländer: Stiftung "Neue Synagoge Berlin Centrum Judaicum"

(I think I have checked the excellent index for Militsch records, but I do not recall how extensive the materials are for this town.)

I have a similar quandary. I have a husband & wife who were second cousins, and are buried side-by-side. Her stone says "beloved sister" and his stone doesn't have any familial notes -- just his name and date of death, along with the usual Hebrew inscriptions. In this case, he died before she did, so I always assumed whoever buried her was a sibling. I also wondered, though, if maybe the family disapproved of their union (or the fact that he was something of a ne'er-do-well) and that's also why it didn't say "beloved wife." Would the cemetery still have records on who paid for their burials? Does the fact that they're both buried in the Hebrew Free Burial Cemetery change things? (I always thought that was for the indigent -- so if there was a sibling to pay for the burial why was she put there? Simply because her husband was?)

You need the birth date and death date of Margit Friedmann I believe. She can locate thru the Matrikeln where they were registered when they lived in Baden bei Wien. I recently did a biography of a friend whose maiden surname is Militscher. She lived in that area, mainly Breslau, until in 1938 the family escaped from Breslau and made it to British Mandate Palestine. I never found documentation of exact roots of their family before Ostrowo, although I would assume they have some connection with the town from whom they drew their surname. I have further info. on Ostrowo. I would also suggest YIVO in NY. When they escaped, they left behind a grandmother and other relatives. I do not know where they are buried and if cemetery records for them have been found, but I could ask the family.Let me know if any of this has interest for you. Perhaps one other lead would be  Theresienstadt Martyrs Remembrance Association in Givat Chaim, Israel.

My greatgrandfather wrote on his application for naturalisation in Australia that he arrived on15th March 1888 on the ship Talavera. This did not seem to be correct. After much searching for dates when the Talavera arrived in Australia in the Australian historical newspapers Shipping News columns (a great source of information via the website of TROVE), I managed to deduce that he actually arrived on the 12th March 1889. But the ship left England on the 27th December 1888 and this is obviously why the mistake was made.

....... very often the data collected by commercial genealogical companies is useless. Therefore, I have not bothered to be a member of any of these companies. My experience regarding my own collection of genealogical data (based mostly on official documents) is rather irritating. My data has been leaked to two such companies without my permission, and one of them is keeping sending me (via a family member) "new matchings" or "supplements" which most of the time can be characterized as rubbish. I would advise anybody interested in collecting reliable genealogical data to treat with the utmost suspicion anything these commercial companies are responsible for.

I could not have said it better. Like Prof. Gath, i've found it a huge waste of time to look in those commercial databases. To pay them money as a subscriber is adding insult to injury. Reminds me of the old database saying 'garbage in, garbage out', and then paying for the garbage. Like Gath some outdated versions of my own family data has somehow—to my great dismay— ended up in them.

None of the Genealogy sites check facts and even if one sends them corrections with all relevant sources, nothing is ever changed. Much of the rubbish emanating from these sites is due to transcribing errors.
One little tip that I use that others may find useful. In my tree/trees I use Upper Case  for every surname that I have sourced and am confident about.  Every other name remains suspect and in lower case, until I am happy and can show sources.

Further to my earlier message. I have found Moshe ben Natan married to Rivka bat Yehuda Leib at the New Synagogue (then in Leadenhall Street) on 3 March 1816. No family names for either bride or groom were recorded.

Hello,
Lewis Nathan married Hannah Cohen (daughter of Moses Cohen) at the New Synagogue on 15 Aug 1838. They lived at 3 Cobbs Yard. Both gave the same address but this was very usual as it saved a little on the registration fee for the marriage. It did not necessarily mean they were living together before the marriage but it didn't mean they weren't! The New synagogue moved in 1838 to Great St. Helen's Street.  
I cannot  trace a marriage of Moses and Rebecca but I will keep it on my list of things to look at and let you know if I find out any more.

The CAHJP (Central Archives for the History of the Jewish People) in Jerusalem has 37 files from the archives of the Jewish community of Militsch (Milicz). However, as far as I can tell from the inventory, BM&D records are not included. I think there are membership lists included in some of the files.
