BILLSTEIN, BLUM, SIMSON & WERTHEIM web pages #usa

Janet Akaha <akaha@...>

Hi,
Recently I have been working on putting together large family trees
for my main lines; BILLSTEIN, BLUM, SIMSON & WERTHEIM. All of these
families immigrated prior to 1960 to the US.

I recently realized that I could turn my trees into graphic files,
complete with pictures and biographical information. I have them all
on three different linked web pages at genealogy.com. Is there
any way a link to my information could be included on the Early
American Sig website? [See Moderator note below.]

It would be great to hear >from some of you if there is anyway to
link them to another site. Here is information for my 3 pages.

BILLSTEINS of R=FClfenrod, Hesse-Darmstadt: most to Ohio before 1860

SEELIG/LEVY/HOROWITZ #germany

Suzan & Ron Wynne <srwynne@...>

Hello,
I am new to the discussion group though I've been a "Stammbaum" subscriber
from the beginning of publication and have interacted online with many of
you. After many years of struggle to get to first base on my mother's SEELIG
family, I've just put some essential pieces together. I have a fairly
complete picture up to the current time except for two of the 7 branches and hope
that someone out there might be able to connect with the following information.

Moses SEELIG was born somewhere in Hesse Darmstadt in 1828, arrived in New
Orleans and married Henrietta LEVY >from somewhere in Alsace. They had 3 of their
7 children in Louisiana (Baton Rouge? New Orleans?) and then settled in Memphis.

I am missing information of the descendants of the third child, Regina, who
married Henry DALSHEIMER. Their only child, Carrie, married Louis HOROWITZ
and settled in El Paso, Texas where they raised their sons, Albert born 1912
and Henry born 1917.

I am also missing information about the descendants of the seventh child,
Florence SEELIG. She married Samuel SAHLIEN, born in Boston in 1869.
Florence and Sam had their first child, Merrill in Memphis in 1889. Then
they moved to New York City where David and Hortense were born in 1890 and
1892, respectively. Later Florence remarried a man named PIKE and moved to
Szn Diego where she died in 1952.

I haven't completely exhausted public records but at this point, I thought
I'd stop to see if any of this rings a bell with participants of the
discussion group.

LAMM Family from Germany to Cincinnati to Baltimore #usa

Linda Shefler <linsilv@...>

This is not my first posting regarding the LAMM family, though it is my
first posting to the Early American SIG, which is probably where I should
have started!
My gg grandmother Bertha MARX nee LAMM was born in 1833 in Darmstadt,
Germany. I don't know when she arrived in the US, but she married in 1856
in Cincinnati. Eventually she settled in Cleveland. According to Sophie
Thorman who was her granddaughter-in-law, "grandmother Bertha's family is in
Baltimore".
I have been able to trace the following family which I am quite sure is
Bertha's family (though I still don't have proof).
Isaac LAMM born 1796 in Bavaria died in Cincinnati in 1851. He had the
following children:
Leon, Samuel and Nancy LAMM.
*Leon was married to Augustine FEISTEL in 1851 in Cincinnati. She died
several months later.
Leon then married Fanny Unknown and they had Frances, Harriet, Bertha and
Isaac. His residence in 1857 was Cincinnati and his business was Lamm
Brothers Clothiers; in 1860 it was Baltimore. Leon died in Baltimore in
1863. According to his will his business was Lamm and Brother of
Parkersburg, VA and Baltimore, MD with his brother Samuel.
*Samuel LAMM (born about 1823 in Bavaria) was married to Caroline Unknown.
The last record I found for Samuel was the 1860 Cincinnati census where he
was listed as a clothing merchant for Lamm Brothers Clothiers. Their
children were Isaac, Joseph, Frances and Abraham. Isaac died in 1880 in
Chicago; he was listed as a clothing merchant.
*Nancy LAMM was born in 1840 in Bavaria and was listed in the 1860 census as
living with Samuel and Caroline.
After Leon's will of 1863 and the Cincinnati census of 1860 these families
seem to just disappear; I can't find any records of them anywhere. I also
haven't been able to find any immigration records.

I have located records for other LAMM families in Baltimore which I believe
are related for several reasons, one being that they are also in the
clothing business and the fact that several names repeat themselves (Bertha,
Leon, Isaac). I have contacted descendants of these "newer arrivals"
(Karl/Charles LAMM and Sarah arrived in Baltimore 1890) but they are unaware
of the family that originated in Cincinnati.

I'm totally stumped as to how to proceed; I don't understand how so many
people can just disappear! I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you in advance.

ABRAHAMSON Family from Stettin #germany

Abuwasta Abuwasta

Dear Gersiggers,
I am looking for possible relatives of Max ABRAHAMSON
(this is the correct spelling) who was killed in
action in 1918 in Palestine while serving with the
German Army. Here are some details:
"Rifleman (Jäger) Max ABRAHAMSON
He was born on 15.3.1895 in Stettin, belonged to the
4th company of the Reserve-Jäger-Bataillon Nr. 11
(kurhessische/Marburger Jäger) and fell on 14.7.1918
in the terrible battle of Msallabe. The whole 4th
company was finished in that battle. The English call
that battle the "battle of Abu Tellul". Abu Tellul is
just south of Msallabe. Both are close to Kibbutz
Naaran in the Jordan valley.
Like almost all his comrades Max ABRAHAMSON has no
grave, he never was found. He is not mentioned in the
official lists. I found his name on top of the
alphabetical "list of honour" of the 4th company.
Immediately I checked in the "Gedenkbuch" der
jüdischen Gefallenen, and there he was!
I doubt that anybody can find his bones, I wonder
whether anybody at least can find his family in the
Jewish geneologies".
I checked at Yad Vashem and on a deportation list from
Berlin I found Isidor ABRAMSOHN who was born in 1889
in Stettin. Despite the different spelling there might
be a relation.
I wonder whether anyone can provide a lead?

Dear Genners,

I just came across an article that announces that the University at
Buffalo, NY has acquired the Selig Adler Jewish Archives of Greater
Buffalo and the Rabbi Isaac Klein Papers.
"The Adler/Klein collection documents many significant historical
aspects of Buffalo's extensive Jewish community and is based largely on
original source material. For these reasons it will be heavily used by
scholars and researchers..."
I would bet that these papers would be useful to genealogists with
