Re: Camp for Displaced Persons in Feldafing #germany

Tmahl <Tobias.Mahl@...>

Dear GerSIG Forum readers:
The issue I am working on is as follows: I am doing a research project for
the authorities of the city of Munich concerning the history of the famous
Villa Waldberta in Feldafing at the Lake Starnberg near Munich. Today the
building is owned by the city of Munich and used as a residence for art
scholarship holders.

from 1945-1952 the villa was occupied by the US-Army for the purposes of the
Jewish Displaced-Persons-Camp in Feldafing.
The Archive of the Zentrum für Antisemitsimusforschung in Berlin keeps
copies of the "Leo-Schwarz-Papers" and "DP-Germany" in which I found several
lists with the names of many inhabitants of the Villa Waldberta. The
inhabitants mainly came >from Eastern Europe and Germany. I am very
interested in finding persons who are still alive and have lived in the
Villa during the described period or maybe any ancestors of persons that have
lived in the building and have died in the meantime. Maybe you know one of them?

I have listed the names, the place of birth and the date of birth below.
Sometimes it is very difficult to read the original text so I have marked it
with a "?". It is then meant as "Sounds like".

Thank you for your help and best regards!

Hello All,
Perhaps someone here can help answer my question. Is there any sense of how
common the surname JACOB would have been among German Christians compared to
German Jews in early to mid 19th century?

Seek origin of Jahrzeit Blessing Among German Jews #germany

Abuwasta Abuwasta

Dear All,
I am in contact with Jacob, the son of the Mohel of
Nurenberg, Alexander Tachauer.
I told him about the Jewishgen SIGs and he asked me to
post a question: he remembers that during Yuhrzeits [observances of the
anniversary of a death] in Germany people used to bless the berieved relatives
with: "Ad Bias Hagoel" which means in Hebrew: until the
coming of the redeemer. The meaning is that one wishes
that the family will not encounter another death until
the Messaiah will come.

He wonders whether anyone knows what is the origin of this Minhag.

Thanks on behalf of Jacob Tachauer.

MOODERATOR NOTE: The above is not an on topic question. Please reply by private

Mr. Rosen - if you would be kind enough to send a summary of the responses
to the list it will be appreciated. Thanks MOD1

Dear GerSiggers,
I am trying my luck again. I am looking for the brothers Rolf Simon KOENIGSBUCH
(b.1929 in Hamburg) and Kurt Max KOENIGSBUCH (b. 1931 in Hamburg). They
were both on the Kindertransport. They lived in the 1960s in New Jersey and
Toronto but apparently are not there anymore. My last(?) chance is to try the
siggers in Hamburg because in the UK and the USA I reached a brick wall.
The Hamburg State Archive provided me with the last which they had (above) and I
am counting on individuals who may somehow know of them. Thanks.

The Pinkas Mohel or Sefer Habritot of the late Alexander Tachauer the Mohel
who lived in Nurenberg and performed circumcisions between 1919-1933 was
published privately by his children in Israel in 2002.

He lived in Nurenberg, but he performed also in Bamberg, Furth and other cities.
I got interested in it because of my family member Shmuel Koenigsbuch who
had his Brit in 1920. Alexander Tachauer circumcized also the known designer
Otto Treumann and Henri Kissinger.

The importance of it is that one may see the Hebrew name of the boy.
If you might be interested in data >from this list please contact me privately.

Death Certificates in Israel #general

There seem to be so much contrary
debate on this subject, that >from personal
experience I can add the following:

One needs the Identity No. of the deceased
- together with identification proving one's
relationship to the deceased+-, should one require more
than the Official Death Certificate, which is automatically
sent to the next of kin after death, in the mail.
This is done through the Ministry of Interior .

I would imagine that outside of Israel
one could approach the Israeli Consulate, who could
possibly make an application on one's behalf.
However, the copy of the death certificate must then
be stamped by a notary in Israel saying that it is a
certified copy of the Death Certiciate.
