i am looking for information regarding Josef Erlich born 1913 in Ostrowiec Poland. He was married to Mindel Berger who died along with their 4 young sons in Treblinka. I have recently learned that Josef survived and moved to Miami in the 1950’s, however that’s my dead end.

Wilhelm Wolf can be found on Ancestry.com arriving New York aboard the Admiral on 16 April, 1857. He is 16 years old from Bavaria.
The passport application, if it is by the same Wilhelm Wolf, has mis-remembered ship information, not unusual after 46 years and little in the way of resources to locate the true details.

Curt B. Witcher is manager of the Genealogy Center of the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Newspapers and other periodical publications can be a wealth of family history information. “Using Periodical Literature for Genealogical Research,” which starts at 1 p.m., should be of interest to anyone conducting genealogical research.

While many family history documents remain on paper in archives and government offices, increasingly such genealogical research resources are being put online. In his second presentation, “More than Surname Surfing: Best Practices for Using the Internet for Genealogy,” which starts at 2:30 p.m., Curt will share tips for effective use of online genealogical resources.

The Allen County Library is well-known for its genealogical research resources, offering a collection of interest to family historians worldwide. Its extensive collection includes more than 350,000 printed volumes and more than 513,000 items of microfilm and microfiche. These include family histories, census records, city directories, passenger lists, military records and much more. Their online databases include Ancestry.com, HeritageQuestOnline.com and AmericanAncestors.org as well as government document and obituary databases.

Curt B. Witcher is the library’s Senior Manager for Special Collections, a job which entails managing The Genealogy Center, serving as general curator for that institution’s Rare and Fine Book Collection, and supervising the new Lincoln Financial Collection’s Lincoln Library. He has worked at the Allen County Public Library for more than 35 years. Curt is a member of the Genealogy Committee of the American Library Association, a past chair of the association’s History Section, a former president of both the Federation of Genealogical Societies and the National Genealogical Society, and the founding president of the Indiana Genealogical Society. 

JGSI is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping members collect, preserve, and perpetuate the records and history of their ancestors. The group is a resource for the worldwide Jewish community to research their Chicago-area roots.

In searching the recently available JDC cards, I found my relatives Imre and Maria Aszodi heading to France after escaping from Budapest after the 1956 Hungarian uprising. They eventually settled in Toronto, Canada. On their departure card, a 4 year old child named Istvan Csepke born in Debrecen is listed as part of the family. Istvan never went to Canada. No one in the family has ever heard of him and, unfortunately, both Imre and Maria have passed away. Does anyone have any idea of how to go about looking for Istvan? Was he being taken to relatives in France? I know of no other family from Debrecen, so how did he end up in Imre and Maria's care? Did he die in France and that's why he did not go with them to Canada? 
Any ideas for further research would be appreciated.

I am trying to crack open a black hole, with no luck so far.
My grandmother's uncle was married to a woman who according to the
family knowledge took her life at some point. I have succeeded to find
her maiden name this week. She was Dr. SPITZER Istvanne Szul BADER
Emma.
I can tell they were married before 1900, and that she died sometime
between 1910's-1930's. They lived in Sombor (Zombor in Hungarian,
nowadays Serbia).
I thought that such a case would appear on newspapers, but couldn't
find anything in Hungaricana.hu. I don't read Hungarian, so that's
another impediment...A JewishGen search also did not show results.
Do you have any idea on how to break this wall and find some
information about her and her untimely death?
