Re: The Lack of Common Courtesy and how it affects the Usefulness of this Forum #general

Dear Friends,

It has been interesting to read the comments of a wide spectrum of
personalities on this site, and learn just how diverse a group we really
are. I have come to know many of you simply by your names and learned
comments. I have learned much >from this forum and hope that I have
contributed equally to others. The use of the computer lends itself to being
a very one dimensional observational platform. If I have ever slighted any
one of you by not acknowledging, responding, or saying "thanks" for your
help, then let me say publicly, here and now; "Thank You"; and I do
apologize.

Hopefully, we all have lives outside of the genealogy world. Life simply
intrudes, on a daily basis, when we are trying to do the things we think we
should be doing for, or saying to, our fellow genealogists, and the people
around us. Other matters take immediate precedence. I take the attitude that
I can't fathom what is going on in other folk's lives, and it is just not
right for me to be judgmental. I have not always gotten back to the kind
individuals who have taken their precious time to assist me in my quest.
However, I do try to respond, and of necessity, must assume that others also
do their best as time allows. I don't know if the individual on the other
end of this key board is ill, or is experiencing tragedy in their lives, or
their kids need their immediate attention, or for what ever reason.

If I get a "thank you", then it fine. If I do not get a response or a "thank
you", that has to be fine also. Most of the folks on this site are here just
seeking and giving help to one another. If we do not expect a "thank you"
message then we will tend not to be disappointed. Helping one another needs
to be cultivated and encouraged as a wonderful Jewish trait. Helping one
another is its own reward. If any of you out there feels that they must make
amends for the sin of a "Thank You" omission, then consider making a
financial contribution to this wonderful JewishGen Discussion Group now. It
is a splendid way to continuously help and support our common cause.

Now, I hope that my cousin who wrote to me six months ago, and who I have
never met, will be thrilled with me and the response I finally forwarded
just this morning.

Bless you all,

Howard Steinmetz

hello all,

I was able to put Touvia Goldstein's tree in my genealogy web album:

Go to
www.twincreeks.net/gallery

under Hallie's albums there is the genealogy album.

The first three pages are pictures. There are some unidentified
pictures I think they are Pekelners for Mark Baron. There are also some
on the David side for my Uncle Sidney who belongs to the Boston JG
group. Pages 4 and 5 are a tree Teddy Goldstein made in 1991 that has a
little more information than what is on his website.

I hope this pulls up for everyone!

Enjoy,
Hallie

This is an answer to Dan Markus Kraft's question about the Romanian
citizenship.

I think the best way to find out about how to get the Romanian citizenship
is to contact the Consular Department of the Romanian Embassy in Brasil.
Here is the address I found on the web.

Does Brasil accept double citizenship? Romania does, as I heard.

Subject: The Trager Family

Dear friends,

I am searching for information regarding my paternal family >from
Odessa/Ukraine.

The information I have is as follow:

My great grandfather Cholem (Charley) Trager and wife (probably Sara) and
siblings (2 sons and 2 daughters)
left Odessa and arrived around 1910 in Brisbane/Australia

one of the sons, Mischa (Moishe) Trager left for Indonesia and died in 1975
in Tel Aviv. the name of the other son was most probably Samuel Trager. It
is possible that one ot the daughters married to a Mr Navaro

His son, Joe (Jos) Trager, my father, lives in Holland.
We are searching for the other relatives, most probably in Australia.

I would be very very grateful if there is anybody among the members who can
help me out. I would also like to know if anybody knows how I can check the
records in Odessa.

Thank you all and I wish everybody luck with finding your relatives.

Recently, there was a posting regarding BOGOSLAVSKY >from Chernigov,
Ukraine. The family included Nokhim Salomon ZURNOVSKY BOGOSLAVSKY,
between 1894 and 1896. He had nine sisters and brothers, Liova, David,
Boris, Misha, Dvoira, Jifim, ?.

In my family, I have Rueven BOGASLAVSKY, born in 1824, father of
Abraham, Nechama (born 1859), and Dora (born 1864)BOGASLAVSKY in Russia.
Nechama married a man documented to have been been born in, grew up in
and emigrated >from Khmelyuv, Romen County, Poltava Gubernia, Ukraine,
Russia, sometimes spelled " Chmelov." All three BOGASLAVSKY siblings
immigrated to Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, around 1900. All documentation
that I have been able to find so far only indicates that they were >from
"Russia." The family oral history was that the BOGASLAVSKYs came >from
what is now Ukraine.

Here's my question, is there any relationship between the names "Nokhim"
and "Nechama"? I know "Dvoira" and "Dora" are related names but so
common that I can't seriously consider these names as a link between my
BOGASLAVKSY ancestor and those of the recent poster. Other first names
in my BOGASLAVSKY were Louis (used for a few different cousins), Jean,
Leo, Dorothy and Dora, Fannie, Rueben, Beatrice (used twice), Leona, and
Irving.

I welcome any comments about names and about finding the place of birth
of my BOGASLAVSKY family.

Thanks in advance,

Genners,

I recently received >from the Family History Library in Utah, and posted on
ViewMate, a copy of a two-page document that I believe contains the birth
record of my great grandfather, Mordke Averbukh, who was born in Kishinev,
Romania, in 1884.

http://data.jewishgen.org/viewmate/ALL/viewmateview.asp?key=6117

http://data.jewishgen.org/viewmate/ALL/viewmateview.asp?key=6118

It looks like my great grandfather's information appears on the bottom of
the page (Male #555). This is my second post -- my first post turned out to
be an incorrect record. I would therefore appreciate it if someone could
confirm that I've posted the correct record this time. Here's the
information I found in JewishGen's "All Romania" database:

Name: AVERBUKH, Mordka Shoil
Father: Isaak/Itshak
Mother: Malka
Date of Birth: 16/9/1884
Hebrew Date: 9 Tishri
Town: Kishinev
Uyezd: Kishinev
Gubernia: Bessarabia
Comments: Mohel Moyshe BRUMNER
Place Registered: Kishinev
Year: 1884
Record: M555

Also, if any of the above information is incorrect, or if there is any
additional information in the record beyond what's summarized above, I would
be most grateful if someone could let me know.

Please reply directly to me at PAuerbach@....
