Where is Ezerke? #lithuania

RuthrSF@...

While looking at the Yad Vashem records I found a common family name
listed for a person who was liberated at Ezerke. Does anyone know
where that is? Someone thought it might be Ukmerge.

KALISKI in KOLO #poland

Ruth Bloom <ruthpbloom@...>

I have accessed the UK naturalisation papers of Abraham David KALISKI,
which state that he was born in Kolo in 1864. I cannot see him on
JRI-Poland. Is it possible that his record has not been indexed?

Any suggestions welcome!

Death record. How to use? #poland

MARTIN RUBIN <martinrubin001@...>

I have obtained a copy death record >from the Przemysl Archives, for my
g-Grandfather, FEIGE FLIESSER who died in May 1856. The record is sparse and
does not tell me his spouse’s name, the names of his parents {so I can trace
back}, where he was born OR his date of birth. See Viewmate VM4965.

Can anyone advise me, please, how to trace back his line, >from this point?
Alternatively, would other vital records be archived anywhere?

IF you go into google and type FOIA G-639 into the search box, you can download a
copy of the Freedom of Information Act Form that you are looking for. It came
right up for me.

Immigrations Forms---FOIA #general

Joan Parker <joanparker@...>

It might be faster to just write a letter directly with all the pertinent
information you have to FOIA, with or without G-639. Sending the letter to
Washington delays it as they forward it to MO...or so I've been told. Remember
too, that FOIA sends in many cases bad copies, BUT, if you can make out the
certificate number, then you can write to the proper court agency.

National Records Center
Attn: FOIA/PA Officer
P.O. Box 648010
Lee's Summit, MO 64064-8010

FOIA in MO sends a notification letter that they received your request within two
weeks, gives it a tracking number and then in about a month or so, the papers
arrive.

Hope this helps.

November 10th Meeting - Jewish Genealogical Society - Hamilton & Area #latvia

Ina Levitt-Yanover <inaly@...>

When: November 10, 2004 at 7:30 PM

Where: Temple Anshe Sholom
215 Cline Avenue North, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Program: We're happy to welcome Michelle Gold as our speaker.
Michelle has travelled extensively overseas and will be sharing
insights >from her most recent trip. Her topic is entitled
"Budapest, Vienna & Prague: A Jewish Tour". If you've considered
a similar trip to research your family or if you're interested in
hearing about the present and past Jewish presence in these cities,
you'll want to hear Michelle speak.

Is taking the next step to trace your Great Grandmother confusing
or frustrating? Have any of your ancestral lines slowed you
down? Is there an Internet site that confuses you? Bring your
specific research questions to our next meetings (Nov. 10th &
Dec. 1st). Present them verbally, in writing, by email or phone
and Ralph Bloch will look for a solution and then present it at
our first meeting of 2005 on January 12th. Of course in the
meantime we'll see what our panel of experts can do with
questions >from the floor. They'll tackle these after the speaker
at each of the next two meetings. This panel discussion will
replace the Special Interest Groups that used to meet after each
speaker.
