I read with great interest the message posted on November 18th from
Boris Krantz indicating that the Yad Yashem database was now searchable
on-line. I went to the URL provided, www.yadvashem.org and cannot do not
find any searchable database. Please advise exactly where on the site
this capability exists?

Andres Carciente

I would appreciate any information about the book "Shem Hagedolim
Hashalem Legedolei Hungaria" written by Pinkhas Zelig Schwartz.

Is it available in Hungarian or only in Hebrew?

Actually I am looking for information about Benjamin HaKohen
RAPAPORT (Komader) who died in 1863 in Berettyoujfalu.

He was my great-grandfather's grandfather!

My great-grandfather: Benjamin HaKohen RAPAPORT was born in
Monostorpalyi (near Debrecen, Hungary). His father was Naftali
RAPAPORT, born in Berettyoujfalu, Hungary.

Thank you,

Andres Carciente

Lithuania SIG #Lithuania Yad Vashem - A Great Find #lithuania

Jerry Zeisler <jzeisler@...>

Unbelieveable! Within hours of making the list of names available on the
Internet, my sister found that our great-uncle, my grandmother's
brother, Reuven EDELZON (ADELSON), had made it to Israel before the Shoah.
We found him through his pages of testimony that he wrote in 1955 for his
mother and brother who perished in Butrimantz in 1941. Reuven's photo,
taken when he was about 13, was published in the Yizkor book "If I Forget
Thee... The destruction of the shtetl Butrimantz," by Riva Lozansky.
Unfortunately, Reuven wasn't able to locate his family that had moved
to the US, so he lost touch with everyone.

A friend of ours in Israel, Elizabeth Levy, who is a regular JewishGen
(Gersig) contributor, looked up the surname using the online telephone
pages, called the famly and confirmed the relationship. His wife is
still with us as well as several children. This is a wonderful day.

Thanks to all who supported this effort.

My grandmother, Ida Friedman and her sister, my aunt Lena Rabinowitz,
