I want to send a tremendous thank you to Mark Halpern and JRI-Poland for their
latest records update.

My grandfather, Sidney (Shmuel) Bernstein was born in Podkamien, Galicia. As
his parents were first cousins, this whole branch of my family is >from this
town. For the last 20 years, I have been told that there were no records that
exist >from this town.

Thanks to the latest update, I have finally seen a record that proves that the
BERNSTEINs and BARERs were >from Podkamien. I can't tell you how emotional I
got, to finally have some real proof that Podkamien is my ancestral homeland.

I can't wait to get to Cleveland and learn more!

Thank you for news of the plaque that was found in the cellar of the
Great Synagogue that details trips of Vilna residents to the Holy
Land. I have been following the progress of this excavation for a
while now.

Is there any way of getting a transcription of the information on this
plaque at this point. If not, maybe a photo of the plaque itself?

Looking for any information on Alexander Ogrodowski, son of Dawid
and Itta nee Bryks, >from Slupca in Poland. His family was in Gdynia
(Gdansk) during the war. According to Pages of Testimony, he lived in
Haifa in 1956 at Rechov Hillel # 38. His sister Maria, who also survived,
was born in 1914. She survived as a prisoner in Russia, was deported
to Iran and married Avetis Bornoutian. Her son is searching for
descendants of Alexander.
