JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen Correct address of Boston MA area National Archives #general

Lisa Lepore <llepore@...>

An earlier message stated that the Boston
area NARA was located at the JFK library
in Dorchester. This is not correct.

The Boston area NARA is
located in Waltham, MA

Frederick C. Murphy Federal Center
380 Trapelo Road
Waltham, MA 02452-6399
(781) 647-8104
http://www.nara.gov/regional/boston.html

I think the JFK library is under the direction
of NARA, so that may have caused the confusion.

The JFK library is located at Columbia Point. Another
research facility located at Columbia Point is the
Massachusetts State Archives.

JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen KOPELMAN descendants/California? #general

Lois Finstein <lois.finstein2@...>

I'm trying to find a possible branch of my family. Thomas Kopelman was born
in Wisconsin in about 1895. Son of Philip Kopelman, who was brother to Jacob
and Morris. I believe Thomas lived in Idaho in 1930, and that he died in San
Mateo County, California in 1983. I've tried to get some help finding an
obituary >from the California Death Index volunteers, but no luck so far.
Looking for any descendants who would be my distant cousins, but I don't
even know if Thomas had any children. Any help would be appreciated,
including any ideas about what part(s) of Idaho might have had a Jewish
community in 1930.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I am interested in finding out more about a child who was listed as an "inmate"
at this institution according to the 1930 Census. Has anyone had any
experience with trying to get record copies or some sort of data to find out
who the birth parents were?
Any advice welcomed.
Thank you,

JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen FICHMAN/FEICHMAN or even possibly, FISHMAN #general

David Priever

Dear Fellow Jewishgenners,

Alas, a posting >from me on my own family. My maternal grandmother, Celia
KLEINBERG, in her September 1905 arrival to NY, listed her aunt, Sure
FICHMAN of 59 Broome St., Lower East Side, as the relative/friend she was
going to visit.

My great uncle, Leiser KLEINBERG, in his October 1906 arrival to NY, listed
his aunt, Sara FISHMAN of 172 Rivington St., Lower East Side, as the
relative/friend he was going to visit.

My great-aunt, Dora KLEINBERG, the oldest of the three siblings and the
first to come over >from Drogobycz, Austria still has an unlocated passenger
list. If I could find this it may give me a new address for Sure/Sara.

Several records I have relating to other KLEINBERG's who are as yet
unconnected, but DEFINITELY related my KLEINBERG's led me to FICHMAN's, as
well as FEICHMAN and FISHMAN listed in the records. A distant relative
confirmed that the spelling is FICHMAN. He couldn't shed light on how
Sure/Sarah was related to my grandmother and her brother and sister.

I have checked these two addresses and have scoured the 1900 and 1910
Federal as well as 1905 and 1915 New York State Censuses as well as
following up with the City Directories for those years for FICHMAN. Nothing
to help me find descendants of Sure/Sarah. I did find a Jacob FICHMAN,
umbrella maker living on East 6th St. at an address that came up for my
unconnected KLEINBERGs.

FICHMAN is connected to my BRUNENGRABERs and GELERNTERs, all of Drogobycz,
Boryslaw and Nahuejowicza, Austria.

Help!!!!!!!!!! What am I missing???? Is this one of those genealogical
mysteries which may never get solved.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

David J. Priever
