FLESCH in Oettingen #germany

Adam Yamey <adamandlopa@...>

Maxmilian FLESCH (of Hanesfurth) and his brother (forename unknown)respectively
married the sisters Adelheid(born 1815) and Wilhelmina STEINER (>from Innsbruck,
born 1818). They both lived in Oettingen, Bavaria. A Wilhelmine FLESCH emigrated
from Oettingen in 1872. To which destination, I do not know.
It is quite likely that Wilhelmine FLESCH had at least two daughters: Racha and
Gabrielle who married a HALLE.

Maxmilian Flesch most probably had a daughter Mathilde who married someone with a
name like "Iliowisi". Her husband was a Rabbi (I do not know where - maybe in USA).

from the above, rather scanty information, can anyone please give me more
information about this FLESCH family?

KLEIN family of Mitau 1890s #courland #latvia

Sonia Nayle <snayle@...>

I am seeking information about the KLEIN family of Mitau.

Bernhard and Regina (nee BLUMENFELD, b. 3 Feb 1859) KLEIN had four children:
Martin - born 16 Jan 1890 and died 16 Jun 1977
Moritz - said he was a writer in this country
Leonore - married name was HORWITZ. I do not where she married.
Martina
All four were doctors, escaped the holcaust, but the sisters spent time in a
concentration camp. Martin came to the US >from Berlin in 1936, returned to
Germany in 1937 to Hamburg to help with the disinterment of his uncle and
possibly other family members >from Grindel and the move of the bodies to
Ohlsdorf. He came back to the US in 1937, became naturalized, and set up a
medical practice, mostly handling workers compensation cases >from his office
on 19th St near Broadway in the Garment District of New York. To my
recollection, his brothers and sisters came via Cuba to the US. They lived
at 574 West End Ave near Central Park in Manhattan.

Martin KLEIN is buried in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Re: Two questions: Military, Michigan #courland #latvia

martha <martha@...>

I beg your respective pardons for this very late response to Max
Michaelson's posting regarding help for Betsy. I have been buried in
work on the program for the Jerusalem 2004 Jewish genealogy
conference. By the way, there will be several talks related to
Courland/Latvia/Baltics which should be of great interest to all of
you. In addition, we will have the priviledge of hosting one of the
wonderfully knowledgeable archivists >from Riga, who will be talking
about Courland.

Max mentioned:

A good source for information about Tsarist Russia in English is the Jewish
Encyclopedia (New York: Funk and Wagnall's, 1905),
I thought you would like to know that this work is online at:

http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com

The article on Courland is by Herman Rosenthal and covers early
history, under Polish rule, Pilten, Hasenpot and Polangen, other
parts of Courland, Kallman Borkum, and intellectual status. Some of
these have live connections [or whatever the technical term is] on
which you can double click to other related articles.

Hope to see many of your Courlanders this year in Jerusalem!!

won't you consider how to coordinate the translation of the yizkor
book? Please contact me if you are interested.

Morris Goalwin married Eva; children Daniel and Rhea
Maxwell Goalwin married Helen; children Alta (married Dr. Harry Lewis)
Ida Goalwin
Dorothy Goalwin HECHT
Frieda (Fritzie) Goalwin COHEN

Hello all.

I find myself looking at something in Philadelphia for the first time.

Does anyone know the ED for 632 W. 4th Street in Philadelphia for the 1910
census?

If anyone has that info, I would greatly appreciate it, as it will save me
about two months.

Thanks.
