Warsaw houses
#poland
Geraldine Courtney
I have a copy of an extract for the death of a baby born to my
great grandparents in 1903. This gives an address merely described as Warszawa house no. 1999. It gives no street name or any other details and this makes me wonder if houses in Warsaw were listed this way at the time, for whatever reason, or if it is a house listed in this manner deliberately for some specific reason. Another house on the same list also has only a number. Is anyone able to help me please with this puzzle? If so, can you kindly respond to me privately, unless this is of general interest to other members. Thank you for any assistance. Geraldine COURTNEY, UK Researching: STEINCHAUER/SZTEJNCHAUR & all variations HAUZER/HAUSZA. both families >from WARSAW

Refugees in Cinecitta, Italy
#general
Daniel Horowitz
Hi JewishGeners,
After the WWII, allies troops in Italy took the cinema city "Cinecitta" (Italian Hollywood) and used it as a refugee camp for a couple of years. Some Jews like my grandparents lived there and my mom actually was born there. We are planning a family trip and would like to get more information before. I know there is a movie (Refugees in Cinecitta) https://vivofilm.it/en/production/cinecitta-campo-profughi/ available in Amazon, and a paper written by a Israeli professor Noa Steimatsky, who participate in the movie. I contacted the Cinecitta archives but they don't have information and I have not yet received response from Noa's email addresses. Anyone knows if and where I may find documents or photos? Who was in charge of this camp? Many thanks in advance Daniel Horowitz Daniel@...

I am helping a possible relative find info on the name RECHTER, and I cannot
find these towns. I looked on Communities page and Gazetteer. He says Jankiel or Jacob RECHTER born in 1883 in Szranetz, Russia and came to US >from Valetchish, Russia in 1910, >from Liverpool, and naturalized in 1911. Wife was Lena, no maiden name, maybe >from Galicia. We would be grateful if anyone has any idea what the names of these towns may really be, and where they were, Russia? Poland? Galicia?
