to be found in the Burgenland or in Vienna: Mattersdorfer, Neufeld, Spitzer,
Monat, Oppenheim, Epstein or Ruzicka . We have brought with us 67 photos
showing gravestones of Jewish families >from Fiume, we came to know their
stories and realized (once again) that the Holocaust is omnipresent. The
vast majority of families has lost one or more of its members in the
Holocaust: parents, siblings and children (Liliane Mattersdorfer was only 10
years old) .
All Hebrew inscriptions were transcribed and translated, resulting in
previously unknown data regarding the respective date of death

This is a general query about [the] timing [of ViewMate translation
requests included in my GerSIG **** Digest ****].

I have just received this morning's Gersig Digest, timed at 08.23 UK time.
. As is often the case, it contains a translation request for a vital
record on ViewMate, this time >from Elaine Berghausen.

I looked up the ViewMate page immediately - only to find, as usual, that
others had already responded hours earlier (one at 12.07am which,
irrespective of time zone, appears to be long before the Digest
was circulated). How is this possible, please? What am I missing?

Moderator reply:
1. We are fortunate to have several GerSIG members who check ViewMate
every day to locate and immediately translate any new German - English
translation requests. Often, their translations are posted at ViewMate
before "translation request" Emails are sent to the GerSIG list
and are approved for distribution to GerSIG members.

2. The GerSIG ** Digest ** is a compilation of every message approved by
the Moderator and sent to list subscribers during the past 24 hours.

Digest mode is one of 3 ways that subscribers can receive GerSIG messages.
Any subscriber can easily switch to the *** "Mail" mode.***

** Mail Mode ** is the individual message mode that sends GerSIG
messages out immediately when they are approved by the list
moderator.
A Mail mode subscriber will receive a GerSIG message up to 24 hours
before a Digest mode reader receives the same message as part of the
once a day Digest Email.

JewishGen also offers the "Index Mode" which sends an abbreviated version
of the Digest at the same time as the Digest.

At the end of every GerSIG list email you will find this paragraph and
link. It tells you how to change your subscription >from one mode to
another and how to suspend list email to your address. ( "No Mail Mode ).

Would be very appreciative if someone could translate a 1915 German
marriage certificate for Chaim Lieb BLODINGER for me on Viewmate.
It's a few pages long so I've broken it down and posted in 4 parts.
We believe Lieb was a brother of my great grandfather but don't
have much information on him because that part of the family was
presumed killed in the holocaust. Thank you.
