Hi Randell,
I saw your message today on the Litvak SIG and was wondering if you could perhaps help me with a question I had - is there a listing published anywhere of the villages that were in the Vilna guberniya of Czarist Russia ? If you have any information on this I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Best Regards, Fred Klein adam1gs@... N. Falmouth, MA

How to enter jewish ancestors' data to geneal. database?
#general
Robert Tornow <robert_tornow@...>
Hello,
How can I enter the data of my jewish ancestors to a genealogical database file? They don't have a family (sur-)name, as they lived in the 18th century and before. Their names are "first name" followed by "father's name". Was it usual in jewish families (in Berlin in the middle of the 18th century) to have two first names (like Jehuda Lo"b)? Thanks in advance Robert Tornow

Used 486 (or better) notepad computer needed by JRI-Poland
#poland
Jewish Records Indexing - Poland
Jewish Records Indexing - Poland's data entry team in Warsaw
needs a used 486 or pentium notepad computer (monochrome monitor is o.k.) for data entry on-site (at branches of the archives) The computer is to be used for the JRI-Poland / Polish State archives project and the indexing of records not filmed by the LDS. Some years do not have index pages. Thus, indices must be created from the records and the work must be done at the archives premises. If you have a used computer gathering dust, or your company is upgrading and may be willing to donate it to this worthwhile project, we will arrange to get it to Warsaw. In accordance with IRS regulations, and our 501 status, a tax receipt will be issued for the current market value of the computer. If you can help, please contact one of the following: JRI-Poland Webmaster, Steve Zedeck: Saz@... JRI-Poland Coordinator, Stanley Diamond: SMSDiamond@...
