the Earps, a Jewish cemetery just outside of San Francisco. He died in
Tombstone and the body was taken to Frisco, although there is a Jewish
section in the cemetery known as "boot hill" in Tombstone.

between birthdates and the Jewish calendar. While my grandfather's death
certificate lists Dec. 2, 1879 as birthdate, we always heard he celebrated
his birthday as the day of Chanukah on which he was born.
That certainly precludes an honest fixed date of birth for American records.
Is Chanukah always the same dates on the Hebrew calendar?

Was it common to use the Hebrew calendar and holidays for dates of birth? If
so, that presents quite a challenge to JewishGen researchers trying to pin
down dates. Is there a perpetual Hebrew-Western calendar conversion
available to do conversions?

Finally, I appreciate Esther being named for Purim, but I doubt Harry was
named for Hannukah.
