I read with great interest in the JewishGen info file <nycvote>
nycvote@... about receiving information >from NY electoral rolls .
Is there a way of receiving similar information on Californian citizens?
Where can I write to for such records?

Records of discharged,deceased and retired merchant marines are in the
custody of the National Personnel Records Center, Military Personnel
Records, 9700 Page Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63132. I believe you can
find this on a website through NARA with instructions and maybe a form.
However, the records will be supplied only to an heir such as a spouse
or descendent.

Not "Merchant Marines", but "the merchant marine" (no caps). This means the
the whole body of the _commercial_ ships of a nation, so that we are not
talking about a military service, and "rank", in the military sense, is not
an applicable term, nor is "service record".

My grandmothers cousin, Rabbi Yekutiel Leib Elion(Elian) had a string
of daughters. I am missing the names of two in particular and would be

grades of membership in LitvakSIG. One grade is the ordinary subscriber,
and a higher grade are the paid-up members, who receive the newsletter. Why
not simply tell us:

I sense, that there is yet a third and higher grade of membership. It is
for those, who make the decisions for us. They moderate and monitor the
e-mail ,nd decide who is allowed access to our e-mail forum and what may be
said. It seems that to belong to the highest grade, a person must
contribute significant time and effort to LatvianSIG. I admire the good
people, who volunteer so much time and effort to make LatvianSIG a more
effective and productive tool for genealogical research and free exchange of
genealogical information, They rightly deserve our admiration and public
accolades,
But I also cherish the democratic rights of free speech for all of us, be we
1 . subscription members only, 2. paid up members, or 3. ruling members.

3.List of Holocaust victims >from Latvia . Or is there a book like the book
by klarsfeld on France?
4. List of killing "actions by the Germans and willing allies in rounding
up and in killing Jews. with dates.
5. List of transports >from latvia to kz.
