Re:Street Maps of Kolbuszowa/Kolbusuv (Rzeszow region-Galicia/Poland)
& Sanok (Krosno region-Galicia/Poland)

To the entire JewishGen Group:

I'm interested in rebuilding the cemeteries of these 2 cities in Galicia
(today Poland). I paid about for a private researching company to search
the National Archives for aerial photos (I'm searching for the Ohel in
these cities). They found Aerial Films of both cities that the German army
made right before bombing [target Shots] (very close one's we can see
railroads & trees). What I need now is Street map of both cities to locate
the cemeteries, so I know where to make the blowups.

I'm also interested in anything to do with these cities (especially
Pinkasim).

lease send to my e-mail address mark2@...

Thanks in advance

Folks,
To address the concerns some of you sent us regarding being
spammed by the purveyors of Family Base:

1. The JewishGen list of subscribers is available to no one!
We neither sell, nor allow anyone but our own administrators who
have a "need to know" access to this list.

2. Because JewishGen is mirrored to the newsgroup
soc.genealogy.jewish which is accessible to the world, when you
post a message your email address becomes available to any
company willing to invest in the software to capture email
address >from a particular newsgroup.

This is one of the primary reasons we are interested in raising
enough funds to enable us to operate a private newsgroup on our
Lyris listserver. Then and only then will names and email
addresses be protected >from people who want to sell you programs
and other genealogically related materials.

JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen A female name #general

Harold Pollins <pollins@...>

My mother was born in Belarus and named Disheh (variously spelled,
eg Disya). Her name in England was Dora.

Soon after she died a first granddaughter was born and so given her
name, Deecia, as both her English and Hebrew names.

I've never heard of that Hebrew name otherwise than in my family.
Is it unusual?

michael slifkin <slifkin@...>

This isn't correct. For a normal certificate of marriage not taking place in a
C of E church, one must give three weeks notice to the local registrar of
marriages. He then displays the application outside his office. However these
are not the banns. Banns are read in church.
I was a marriage secretary for 17 years in the UK and have some knowledge on the
subject.

To my knowledge, bans or banns are a notice declaring the intention of

In English law, before a religious or civil marriage can take place, the
bans must be exhibited in a public place and/or read in the place where the
marriage is to take place.
I believe that the idea is to give an fore warning to anyone who has reason
to object to the marriage with knowledge of a "legal impediment". This
could be that the bride is under age or that one of the partners is already
married.
I should imagine that this is a legal requirement in most places or are
bans not read in the U.S.?>
