Holocaust-period records now available to members of Gesher Galicia #austria-czech

tkahane@...

Gesher Galicia recently announced the completed indexing and uploading
onto the freely available All Galicia Database of two important sets
of Holocaust-period records:

- Debica-area Holocaust-period death testimonies, held in the Rzeszow
State Archive
These are testimonies, provided by people who survived, of Jews who
died during the Holocaust - all but a handful of them murdered. They
were gathered after the end of the war in Europe.

We should have mentioned earlier that Gesher Galicia is indebted to
Russ Maurer and Mark Jacobson for their valuable work on these
records.

- Doctors' Questionnaires, 1941-1943, >from the Przemysl State Archive
and AGAD, Warsaw
These are detailed, four-page forms (some with face photos) that
Jewish medical and health-care workers were obliged to complete under
the Nazi occupation. The people named included doctors, dentists,
dental technicians, nurses, midwives, radiologists, cosmeticians,
medical students and others.

Gesher Galicia is pleased to be able to announce that we have put both
these sets of records, with their spreadsheets of indexes, into a new
Galician Holocaust Records section of the Members=E2=80=99 Portal on the
Gesher Galicia web site. Currently paid-up members of Gesher Galicia
(and only they) will therefore be able to view these documents freely,
for their personal use.

If you can't get to the IAJGS Conference #austria-czech

We have two great opportunities for you. Both of these are available
through the conference website under "New Registration." Yes, even if
you can't get to the conference, the only way to purchase anything is
through registration. We have to know who you are and we have to be able
to make sure we can contact you if we need to.

1) You can still purchase LIVE! (and you will be able to throughout the
conference and afterwards. the advantage to purchasing now is that you
can view the sessions as they are happening through LIVE! streaming.
Can't arrange your schedule to fit our sessions? No worries - LIVE! for
those who purchase it, is available after the conference is over, on
demand for 90 days - that means you can pick the sessions yo want to
hear (maybe all of the ones on LIVE!) and listen to them as many time as
you want for 90 days.

Check out the conference program to see which sessions are LIVE! from
the conference website. LIVE! is sponsored by Family Search.

2) If you are in Seattle and can't make the conference, why don't you
join us for the opening session on Sunday evening, August 7, and stay
for a fantastic dessert reception. The keynote speaker, Dr. Devin Naar
is sponsored by MyHeritage, and the dessert reception fllowing is
sponsored by Ancestry.com

Both LIVE! and the Keynote/dessert reception are available through the
conference registration. Go to the conference website at
http://www.iajgs2016.org/ . Choose programs to check out what wil be
LIVE! Go to registration and choose "new registration to purchase LIVE!
and tickets to the keynote and dessert reception.

Contact the conference chairs (if you need to) through the website.
Better idea - figure out which department you really need information
from under "About" and then "contacts" and contact the person you need
information >from directly.

Help is needed in manning the Austria Czech booth at the Sunday afternoon Share Fair.
Welcoming conference attendees who stop and ask about the Austria Czech SIG and it's
activities is a great way to meet fellow genealogists. If you can help for a half hour or an
hour between 1 and 5 pm on Sunday, please send me the times you can help. It takes SIG
volunteers to support our activities. Please help.

the Wars.

The SGKP (Geographical Dictionary of the Kingdom of Polish and other Slavic

Enter locality name and click on "szukaj" (search). Search must use Polish

Aleksota is listed in Volume 1 page 30 and, by browsing through Volume 4,

The SGKP (Geographical Dictionary of the Kingdom of Polish and other Slavic
Countries) published 1880 to 1902 includes small villages and may be
searched online.

Enter locality name and click on "szukaj" (search). Search must use Polish
spelling and will indicate volume and page numbers.
If no matching items are found, search for any town beginning with the same
letters and browse that volume (tom).

Aleksota is listed in Volume 1 page 30 and, by browsing through Volume 4,
Kineryszki is found on page 99.

My 02 Mar 2015 post subject "Searching the SGKP (Slownik Geograficzny
Krolestwa Polskiego)" lists alphabetical localities in each of the 15
volumes.
